Excited for X-Men, concerned for Disney becoming too powerful :selena:

Why do there always have to be two sides to the coin :madge:

Absolutely disgusting. I could care less about the ‘new creative opportunities’ that are possible now because of the merger. Consolidation of media is not something to cheer for, especially these days.

but now there's more movies in one place so i won't have to sub to multiple places for specific movies :ohwell:

Seriously doubt they will reboot X Men and its universe (with Deadpool) since, for better or worse, those movies are very successful and loved by many

a Fantastic Four reboot is definitely happening I think

Please give us a new X-Men tv series!

Also I heard rumors the entire Dark Phoenix plot was leaked (and I read it), it did sound bad. :air: Of course, it's just a rumor but hopefully it isn't cancelled, I'd still watch. :gaycat:

The only reason I can think of why they did this is for content for their upcoming streaming service.

I would have been happy if they just bought out the Marvel rights.

I’m more into the Disney Parks side of things so I’m kinda excited to see what they will with a few of the films. I know them owning Avatar just means we will be getting more than one sequel and maybe another Avatar attraction.

There is already one planned since many years ago. Disney have planned for acqusition that far ahead. :giggle:

The old Walt must be face-palming hard....

Culturally, I believe it is pretty unhealthy for an entertainment company (or any company, actually) to be that big. When you're so large and represent everything and its opposite, it's like you don't have values anymore. Like.... the mere concept of a Disney Princess doesn't make sense anymore. Marge Simpson is a Disney Princess. Anastasia is a Disney Princess. Rose from Titanic is a Disney Princess. I mean...... :saladga:

Oh no, they are definitely going to reboot the X-Men. It may be confusing to a lot of the general public at first because they may be like "Another X-Men movie with a whole new cast?" but over time they'll learn that this new team of X-Men is going to be vastly different from the X-Men we're used to. I also wouldn't say that they're "very successful and loved by many" either since a lot of fans don't really like most of the movies.

Deadpool, on the other hand, is tricky. Personally, I don't think that they're going to really touch upon that franchise a whole lot, but since it's Disney's now, they'll probably have some executives screen the movie beforehand to make sure that it's relatively safe.

Ummmm....no, that's not how Disney Princesses work. Disney princesses are a concept exclusive to Disney and are very formulaic in terms of how they introduce princesses and put them into the mainstream. Just because they are acquiring new properties doesn't mean that they are now all of a sudden Disney princesses.

The whole monopoly argument is debatable. For this to go through, the Department of Justice had to approve of this and Disney also had to let go of Fox's sports divisions. It's not like Fox wanted to continue on anyway, they're the ones who sold it, and plus they want to focus on their news division.

There are only 3 major studios now, and all are media giant,

Warner, which now called Warner Media after acquitted by AT&T, Universal which is owned by Comcast, that also owned NBC, another giant. And there's Disney. :sis:

Yeah, matter of fact, I believe Marvel were frustrated once before, and so they decided to kill X-Men on comics and do Inhumans to replace them. Now they got X-Men back, they will surely do a reboot. I mean, X-Men are the more popular Marvel heroes aside from Spider-Man before these MCU thing happened.
