I think she feels locked into the "studio album > world tour > repeat" cycle. She doesn't have to tour with every album. I actually think she shouldn't considering her health. Idk I'm rambling.

But shes locked in the promotion cycle. 

She cant just lowkey release songs. And i completely agree she would feel the era more right when shes into it.

Im not so sure. Ofc the label gainz money the more music she puts out. But the investment might not pay off.

I'm pretty sure it was her decision to go for a softer sound... I think she was working with RedOne for LG5 and just wanted to make a few songs with Mark, and then Joanne the song happened and they decided to build an album around it.

Releasing Telephone instead of Alejandro was a great choice because the hype around Beyoncé being featured would have disappeared in time, and then Alejandro was helped by of the hype created by the iconic Telephone video.

Marry The Night would have never done better than The Edge of Glory. The Edge of Glory was way fresher and way more radio friendly. 

Most of the GP said that Do What U Want was pretty much the first Gaga song that they liked since The Fame Monster. Even with controversy and without music video, it did way better than Venus would have been able to do. 

And Million Reasons really helped selling Joanne. Every performance pushed it to #1 on iTunes, and it's mostly because it was easy for Gaga to make a great performance of it. A-YO is definitely more difficult to perform live, and even if if would've done better then Perfect Illusion, it just couldn't do better than Million Reasons. 

I'm not saying that I necessarily disagree with her single switches, but what I'm saying is that her team isn't all that calculated if they impulsively switch the singles every time.

The softer sound seems natural.

But her working with mark was said in some interview to be indication of the label. Though it seemed to be a natural decision. She might have articulated the first concept of joanne and they suggested mark for it

I wouldn't say calculated. I think Interscope gives Gaga all the freedom to create her album but they will make anything to sell the hell out of it in return. So they choose the singles and switch them if necessary and come up with crazy promo schedules to make sure the cycle is successful

she does what she has to. we all know now that LG6 is on the road, and we're gonna bop whatever, so why not just chill ? For example, Mickael Jackson didn't released that much music (and he was writing tons of songs)... she's got a great pace, and she aways tries her best to make us proud. As an artist she might be in a pursuit of something meaningful not just being a like a milking cow

That is the problem, I think her artistry is suffering because of lack of releases

I think it is, because as she is releasing way too long after, she's not really into it anymore or at least not as much as when she created it. Then the material released needs to be good enough to have a whole era for itself and during that time she's gonna work on new things which won't be released until the current era has ended. I think she should be more spontaneous now. She has a really great vibe and style whilst creating for an album and not releasing it. But when it comes to an official release it seems too artificial because it is in the end all about the money interscope can make out of it i guess; as if her creativity was limited by all the promo cycle etc. If it was less official she'd be more free, spontaneous and then more creative.

I attribute her disdain for doing features on her artistic integrity. It's crazy that all 14 of her Top 10's on Billboard are lead songs by her. Many artists easily pass her number of hits because they do features and I don't see why a Calvin, DJ Snake, or Zedd feature would hurt on an off year (2012, 2015, late 2017/early 2018 etc) but she clearly doesn't like the idea of features.
