Most Controversial Single of Each Era?

Of course we'd love a successful single, it's just that she kept performing it when it was the time we need another single from the album.

The most she promoted the song was when it was between the release of the single and the Super Bowl....after that she performed it less until the Grammys and the Joanne tour.

Are you guys sure Poker Face wasn’t more controversial than LoveGame?

That wasn’t a known fact until after “Poker Face” had its run as a successful single, because she didn’t admit it until after it ran its course. The only thing controversial about “Poker Face” was “bluffing with my muffin” which was mild compared to hearing “I wanna take a ride on your disco stick” on the radio

Sadly religion isn't the only reason people are still very concerned about sexual stuff

True. Maybe it’s because I’m from the Netherlands and we are not really scared for sexual stuff, that it didn’t cause much controversy here. :poot:

Well, it was the moment Gaga went from a coloful pop star to darkga. It was a huge change, so that was a big controversy. Something like the Bad Romance video was totally new at the time. I think the ‘Lady Gaga has d*ck/is a man* rumour peaked at the time the Bad Romance video came out because she looked a bit Dragish in the video. The fact she got drugged, sold to a man which she later killed. The big anime eyes, the fire-bra at the end of the video. The scene were she is a skinny monster, everybody was talking about how shocking the rips and backbone looked of that look. The McQueen outfit and boots. I might not be that shocking now, but at the time it was the most shocking moment in music industry. She went from funny outfits to crazy and scary looks.

It was not overperformed at all... All of Gaga's singles until G.U.Y. were performed more

Probably but i'm not the only one feeling like she performed it a lot. There are even memes about it

According to Setlist...

Million Reasons- 75

A-YO- 59

Perfect Illusion- 58

It really isn't by that much.....A-YO (a non single song) was performed more than PI, why doesn't anyone complain about that.:huntyga:

This almost sounds like a stretch tbh. “Bad Romance” is the song that made me a fan of hers, and all I remember from that period was all the praise she was getting. Yeah, conspiracy theories flourished, but I believe “Alejandro” was her most controversial. I remember when the video premiered and was restricted to nighttime airing. People weren’t too pleased with the religious bondage Nazi theme, and it was her first video to focus on homosexuality, which was still relatively taboo at the time.

Because “A-YO” is a bop :ohwell:

I remember the first time I heard “Million Reasons” and I thought, “it’s okay, but if it gets overplayed I’ll hate it” and sure enough it’s my personal most skipped song in history :bon:

To this day I still hear it every day at work on the radio... it’s lowkey obnoxious how repetitive it is :saladga:
