You don't know that.

We all do, it's obvious. There was never a time in history when someone was as successful as Gaga was in 2010/early 2011. She literally owned to world. The hype around her 3rd album was HUGE. We probably will never see that again. It was like if people made the song #1 before even listening to it. I'm not saying that it didn't deserve it, the message was fantastic, but if she had released Bad Kids, people would have jumped on it too, and it would have been #1 for weeks. Even if the GP was disapointed. They kinda were with Born This Way since they expected something dance and electronic with a great mixing like her two first albums.

If you wanted to answer the OP, you should have only mentioned statistics and facts, not make the statement that it is known to the public for all the wrong reasons, when it is not. There are more who appreciate the song than those who do not.

I was addressing that statement that you made which is completely erroneous and irresponsible.

It was a statement respecting the terms of a public forum punctuating the reasons behind a belief which I have already told THAT DOESN'T REPRESENT MY OPINION. Clearly you are pressed by sth and want to argue. I won't play that game. So have a beautiful day.

Summer Boy

Just Dance obviously, it sold way more (13,69M vs. 10,2M) and has way more streams and recurrent airplay.

Just Dance was more successful, no question. Born This Way brought her a dose of controversy, whereas Just Dance was, and still is, simply loved.

People seem to forget that Born This Way was N1 for six weeks in a row. It was one of the biggest singles of 2011. And if it was submitted to the Grammy's it would've been nominated. But for some stupid reason, Gaga team submitted Judas lol....

I'm surprised everyone is saying Just Dance. It may have sold more copies, but it's a really good pop song - and nothing more. BTW is THE gay anthem, and is the song that, for better or worse, has defined Gaga's public image ever since its release. That song's legacy is Gaga's legacy: above everything else her LGBT activism is Gaga's most important contribution to the world. They will write about the song in her obituaries; if Just Dance gets name checked it will only be because it was her debut single.

I would honestly put Born This Way alongside Poker Face and Bad Romance as her most important song.

She's know as the "Rah Rah Bish" and not the "P-P-Poker Face Bish" for a reason.

Poker Face sold more and charted number #1 in more countries. It's longevity is more longer than Bad Romance on charts too.

I just noticed there's a tendency on this forum that whenever someone doesn't know what to say, they say 'You are pressed.' and brush it off as if it made some constructive point.

I'm gonna have my beautiful day and stop this conversation since it won't change the legacy of Born This Way that it has already established.

I get your point but I feel like one of the reasons Born This Way was so massive is because of the message of the song, the lyrics are so literal and empowering and just hit you right in the face and it made a huge impression on the public in a really quick time.

When people in the GP make snarky comments, they will either say something about her meat dress or "she was born this way" - not "she just dances". :)

Song wise Just Dance may have fared better but Born This Way became much more iconic because it's more than a song. It's a song, an album, a movement.
