Mirrion Rizzons 11,625
So I know pop music is in a coma right now, but lets pretend theoretically, that all music released in 2013 was released this year instead. Also put into consideration that because of this theoretical 5 year jump, born this way would have been released in 2016, TFM in late 2014 and TF in 2013. Gaga's TF, TFM & Born this way streaming would have been impeccable and she definitely would have broken records such as highest first day streams for a female with a song like born this way. So because of streaming would there be: 1.More longevity? (before streaming I guess songs had less longevity because for example, everyone bought born this way in the first 2 months so after that most people already had it so it slipped off the charts quick af. But streaming now causes songs to stick on the charts because people keep playing/downloading after months of release) 2. Higher chart positions? (bc it counts downloads and streaming too. Applause was catchy af so surely it would have received a lot of streams in its peak) so do you guys think applause would have done better or worse with streaming? and could DWUW have reached the top 10 due to streaming? (dope is an example as to where streaming gave it a very high peak)
PerfectCure 4,758
Every singer has an underperforming point in their career. Gaga's was ARTPOP and nothing could've saved it, not even the streaming era.
Tumppu 18
Its always makes me giggle when ppl talks about "streaming era". Am i the only one who has been using spotify since 2010? But yea, perhaps! Edit: I mean ofc, spotify/streaming is way bigger nowdays
ryanripley 86,575
ARTPOP was lowkey in the streaming era though, right at very start however she still would have been branded a flop no matter what the media was not here for her at all and if she didn't outsell BTW, there was no hope https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
elijahfan 26,484
The OP acting like ARTPOP was released 50 years ago

Gaga was so overexposed during BTW. I believe Applause & DWUW had potential for good streams.
PunkTheFunk 124,530
It still would've flopped.

Dominic 11,922
Gaga has always been more of a seller than a streamer so I doubt it would make much difference. The problem was the music wasn't really 'cool' and the lyrics were a little messy. It probably would do even worse now seeing as streaming is dominated by hip hop. Jewels and Drugs woulda been #1 tho at least The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

TheSlash 14,539
I think it would've flopped even harder. Look, it wasn't streaming that was missing to success. The GP just was overfed with her and the is something streaming doesn't change in the positive way. So, streams are counted nowadays. That would've made it even harder to succeed, bc - as I said - the GP was overfed and wouldn't stream it. And so this loss is protocolled, too Ew, David!
