I love the music but her televised performances are meh. Hope she continues to grow in that area!

It's tragic what music industry and entertainment overall have become. This girl is atrocious performer, tbh I don't now a single song of hers except the name of New Rules. Sad times have come, hopefully Gaga will save pop music once again soon.

ummm Dua Lipa had one of the best pop albums of 2017.

Sad times have come when you don't have an attention span to listen to it all.

UK tho. US matters more :huntyga:

but the us is like 100 times bigger. The fact that uk relevancy rivals the us is embarrassing for america.

She has some good songs but she really is a terrible performer. I do like her, but damn she needs to work really hard on that, cause she has nothing on any girl from the previous generation (Gaga, Katy, Rihanna, Kesha, etc.).

When I saw all the hype she was getting, I checked her out last year (and continued to do so this year) but I'm just not seeing it :rip: Yes, she is doing well, and good for her, but her music does little for me  The hooks are there, and the songs are very quality, but I don't get anything from her vocal performances on the songs themselves, let alone much personality... which is a shame because its nice to have a pop girl that isn't the typical soprano/mezzo in terms of timbre + color and affect  Like, I'd rather her songs be sung by someone else if that makes sense.

I love to see pop artists do well, but :emma: Thinking that this is what's perhaps mainstream and close to stan's idea of "main pop girl status" makes me a bit disappointed. I'd rather hang out in the fringe with artists like Charli, Carly, Tove, Marina, etc.

literally this

her music is just "fast food", there's really nothing interesting about her at all, at least not yet

She’s not just “the first new girl that came along” though. What about Camila Cabello? Sure she’s popular but I don’t think she’s anywhere near Dua Lipa’s level. I have seen them both live (Camila only when she was with 5H) and she’s good but I don’t think she has the lasting power of Dua

I think Camila's quite a bit better than Dua. Havana alone is better than anything Dua's ever put out plus her songs are more memorable. I think Camila will have more potential of a fanbase since she's got the super loyal and lucrative Hispanic market on her side, which Dua doesn't. She has more chance at a longer career for that alone. You should see how Latin acts like J Lo and Shakira, while they can't make hits in the Western world anymore, can still gets huge hits in Latin America. Dua just strikes me as a one hit wonder, quite honestly. She's big in the UK now because homegrown acts are given top priority but we move on so quickly now. Many a British act had a super successful debut only to slowly fade out at best or crash and burn at worst with their sophomore effort.

Havana is better, but I have listened to both of their debut albums and Dua's is much better. I found Camilia's is kind of boring to me, honestly.
