Do people look back fondly at 2000s pop music?

Being a 2000s kid myself, I'm surprised by the lack of iconic songs I'm able to recognise from the year-end charts, most especially the mid 2000s. Perhaps it's because they are not played as much on the oldies radio stations as much older songs?

There's definitely distinctively a lot of hip-hop/R&B and alternative rock/post-grunge in there. I'm surprised that Usher is among the biggest acts, despite not knowing even half of his biggest hits except for that Yeah song I guess. And does anyone really remember bands like Creed?

In a few years would people look back at the 2000s with as much respect as let's say the 1980s and 90s? Perhaps some of you here who got to grow up more in the 2000s have better things to say about it. Were anyone here really into singers like Ashanti or P!nk?

I was into P!nk, Avril, Evanescence, Britney, Xtina, Fergie.

Only few of them will be appreciated.

Absolutely, it was an era of bops and it did have it's own little distinctive sound just like the previous decades did  Especially the early to mid 2000s

I could go on forever page after page but here is a small sample of bops:

Spoiler

I was actually inspired to make this post after looking at how high Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie is on the year end charts, and realising that I've never listened to it... :messga:

People are starting to realize how good 2000s were, in pop music specially beginning and ending of the decade were huge, but mid 2000s not that much

The early 2000s at least had some Britney, Destiny's Child and some leftover 90s pop acts; the late 2000s of course introduced pop icons like Gaga, Katy and Rihanna; and for me there's just like this gap where the mid 2000s lies.

Does she have a lot of hits? Frankly I could only name Big Girls Don't Cry, Glamorous, and some of the bigger hits she had with The Black Eyed Peas.

I think especially since pop music in the recent years is not as good as it was before, people are now starting to appreciate 00s pop music

I liked when pop-rock, and bubblegum pop was still a thing, when artists weren't all drugged and sexed up to high heavens, a time when pop music was fun, didn't take itself always so seriously and was more innocent to some extent. I wonder if the music industry is ever going to be influenced by those times again?

A few songs that just hit that nostalgia buzzer for me

You had rock pop bops

Stacies mom

Teenage dirtbag

Gives you hell

5h0 and that duo boys have similar vibe. Oh blink and all that.

You had bands like manu chao and others from same ska/reggae

Also in this world music began really broadening

Many french popular acts with real smashes and djs like guetta sinclair and many others breaking through. With real bops

Just this bop:

And satisfaction weekend justify the 00s

And then you have eminem dido usher britney

It was quite diverse

Also some underground movements and dance movements.

And there was obsession lol

The 2000s were such an iconic time for music  I particularly miss the pop/rock trend like All American Rejects, The Script, Evanescence, The Fray, Keane, Snow Patrol etc. I recently made a playlist on Spotify with all these songs and I felt so nostalgic :cryga: A few of my faves:
