Idk how people can actually sit and listen to drag music. It’s contrived, cringey, and quite annoying.

It's a well-made song, almost a certified bop. The only issue I take is that there seems to be this dichotomy that transforming someone into being either skinny or fat will make them happy as if bodies are so black and white. She's all about body acceptance but makes it seem cool to transform one kind of body into another. The body acceptance movement (including her) would be up in arms if some mv showed "big girls" transformed into skinny ones and then celebrating it (hunty celebrate all bodies but don't glorify either end of the spectrum). Although I'm probably reading too much into this :saladga:

No, from an analytic perspective, I think you nailed it. However, I don't think her intent was to generalize a community, but rather to express how she came to be happy with herself. Was she ever skinny? (I'm truly asking, I don't know.) I do think she could have done this differently. The "transformation" doesn't really help either side of this issue. I think she did this to make a music video that would fit within this music video culture we have. You're right though, it's not a positive way to promote body positivity and sadly I think she was more worried about what would be a "hit" in this current culture.

If you're a big girl you're gonna sew a dress that fits a big girl :ohwell:
