Add pure album sales and TEA and you have a 1 million opening week. Not to mention its already Platinum based on Gods Plan and Nice For What. A 2x Platinum album by its release week But yeah Katy Perry is more relevant and no one cares about Drake HA.

I am very open minded and I appreciate a lot of different things. From rap to pop, and straight to gays, as you wanna make it about that apparently. I dont care what you appreciate. The fact is Drake is the biggest artist in the world right now. I dont even like him nor have I listened to his album but that doesnt stop the fact that he’s had 2 #1’s this year and is going to have the biggest album of the year. I am just calling you out on your biases. You might disagree with me and that's fine but just don't come here and impose your judgemental preconceived ideas on me, that's all. It just something to be conscious about. I do it sometimes too.

Hoeanne 1,061
Drake is popular, just not interesting. Like, he hasn't done anything innovative since Take Care. People stream him because his music is well produced, sometime catchy, and just chill enough to listen to without having to get too invested in it, therefore you can have it on in the background all day and not have it distract you from what you need to be doing. Basically he makes the perfect music for the streaming era.

Numbers are just numbers. And streaming numbers.... there are arguments about how they are of a "lesser value" that an actual album sold. XXXtencion whatever his name is is no1 on the hot100 rn, he is a well known abuser that will never be remembered in the long run. The current rap trend is undeniably strong and artists like Drake, Post Malone, etc are huge rn. I cant deny that. My point is their "art" is less memorable and universal than other artists that are less popular the moment. That is my point. It is just an opinion. And I am not saying Drake is irrelevant. I am saying he is not as relevant as those streaming numbers make him seem to be.

I dont like or hate him but having 25% of the entire chart for just 1 artist seems kinda unfair. He is extremely popalar right now, dont get me wrong, but let's see if people sing along nice for what in 10 years lol. he will fade. Plus rap songs are often far less memorable. Facts. Good read: Right...because One Dance, Started From The Bottom, Take Care, Hold On We're Going Home, The Motto aren't still relevant and haven't made any sort of impact on music. Get tf out of here with this completely irrational mindset with absolutely zero basis. He's slaying the charts, radio, clubs, streams, and overall relevance and you just simply don't want to accept it. I hate the mentality on here, where people can't even recognize the legitimate success of other artists, especially in different genres. He remains ascending while you remain posting on a Lady Gaga web forum. Goodbye.

Youre taking what I say and bringing it to an extreme that i never intended. Also, the way you talk is rude and aggressive. It's not cool.

And your lack of respect towards artists who have massive public appeal, appreciation, and merit is appalling. You can dislike someone all you want, but to discredit clear success and legacy is ridiculous and immature. You've said he's going to fade, that "rap songs are far less memorable" (and don't even get me started on the problematic and nearly racist rhetoric that brings into this), and best of all, that's he's IRRELEVANT. If you don't intend for something to be taken to the extreme, then don't say dumb ****.

But on the other hand, it means the chart is a better representation of what exactly people are listening to. If everyone is listening to an album track (or in this case all 25 of them) surely that track should be represented rather than just the label-nominated single.
