Twitter 14
I don’t know much on the LGBTQ. But I notice more black gays flock to Beyoncé and Nicki while white gays flock to Gaga and Madonna. In opinion I believe gays who aren’t social, suffers depression, anxiety, sex assault and bullied victims, etc. flocks to Gaga because she brings the beauty out of people and loves imperfections. While more confident and pompous gays flock to Beyonce, Nicki, Ariana, Pink, Madonna.

It seems like it applies to literally anything under the sun, but white (has to be american or european tho, if there's one small trace of a south american country or african or whatever else place in your genetics, you're not white anymore according to everything I've read) I live in south america, so seems I'd be under the POC thing, tho I've never felt any discrimination due to skin color or origin. And I'm not in america so is not like I am gonna be discriminated for being latina. And I like Gaga and a bunch of friends do so I guess it counts
Battle 4 Ur Life 6,704
no way, dude. I guess POC are just more in touch with more african american artists. and that's totally ok. I know a lot of them who stan or just appreciate Gaga too. it's not about race for me. and tbh there are lots of white gays still trying lessening her on the claim she "appropriates and profits over lgbtq". and she's bigger overseas than in america tbh so. “Fantastic, chic, freak, slay.”
T3ARS 4,132
POC refers to anyone not white lol, it's kinda problematic since it groups various cultures, ethnicities, and races into one giant group tho OT: Speaking from a black gay experience, I LOVE Gaga but I relate much more to Black artist because they rap/sing about problems that affect me every day. Their music, sometimes, is made for black people and our experiences without any sugarcoating. It's nice to listen to a song that just feels good like Edge of Glory or LoveGame but I also have to make sure I'm not creating a fantasy world where all the gays are one big happy family, and my skin color plays no part in how people view me and treat me. It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognize, accept, and celebrate those differences. - Audre Lorde

Same Sex Marriage and DADT are hugely significant issues, and obviously they do affect LGBTQI+ POC, however these are frankly probably some of the biggest issues for 'white gays'. LGBTQI+ POC often encounter even greater issues, but she hasn't shown the same great push when it comes to those issues. Examples: Trans women of colour are the highest at-risk group of domestic abuse and intimate partner violence (IPV) and are at the highest risk of dying to IPV. Transgender women of colour account for 50 percent of homicide victims when it comes to anti-LGBT violence. Nearly 50 percent of black LGBT people have experienced employment discrimination.https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/4-lgbt-issues-to-focus-on-now-that-we-have-marriage-equality-20150629 LGBT people of colour are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. For example, 1 in 5 young people in U.S. juvenile justice facilities identifies as LGBTQ, and 85 percent of these individuals are youth of colourhttps://www.americanprogress.org/press/release/2016/08/04/142238/release-lgbt-people-of-color-face-rampant-discrimination-bias-and-abuse-in-the-u-s-criminal-justice-system/ Black Americans in same-sex couples are more than twice as likely to live in poverty than those in opposite-sex married couples. Transgender people of colour are most threatened by extreme poverty: Some 28 percent of Latino trans people, 34 percent of black trans people, 23 percent of Native American trans people and 18 percent of Asian or Pacific Islander trans people are extremely poor, with annual household incomes of $10,000 or less. That’s compared with 15 percent of the trans population as a whole that suffers from extreme poverty.http://america.aljazeera.com/articles/2015/4/23/lgbt-people-of-color-more-likely-to-face-poverty.html For many LGBTQI+ POC these are extremely pressing issues - arguably more important that same sex sex marriage or DADT. Gaga hasn't been as vocal an advocate for these issues A lot of white gays identify her as a symbol of 'safety'. She advocates for them, she has pushed hard for them, she has embraced them. If she isn't speaking to the issues faced by LGBTQI+ POC then she isn't going to have the same response as she does from white gays. May I ask what DADT is? River 116,429
Actually, Joe's grand parents are from Sicily and they are not 100% white, they are in between.. because their gene pool is mixed with Middle-Easterns, Greeks and others.. in the late 19 and early 20 century, they were discriminated in the US because they were not considered and looked "white".. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
