Free trade with the US is not likely to happen (especially food) because EU has strong regulations when it comes to product quality

I could see banning trade on unqalified foods chemicals ect. But other products,,,? like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. There's a few things we are restrictive in like: dairy, meats, and pharmaceuticals... But those 3 things the barriers come because of higher safety standards than in the US that adds barriers that the US is taking about. I don't think it's fair for the US to demand we lower our safety standards and regulations to theirs because of trade. The point of these regulations weren't with trade in mind. It wasn't with the intention of having unfair trade advantage Canada should also make the argument that energy our biggest export is being affected by the NAFTA agreement that Canada cannot export over a certain percentage of energy outside North America for National Security reasons. This affects the price we can get for Oil and Natural Gas. If the US can damage our exports value with security demands on our energy, I do not see why we can't also have tougher restrictions on dairy, meat and medications in the name of consumer safety!!!!!! I do not want our annual food poisoning rates to jump to the rates the US has Edit: I do get Trumps frustration with a few Nations tho that overall are very unfair like China But with some other Nations he'd cherry picking specific things that don't work in the US favour but trade deals rarely work fully in your favour that's why during negotiations there's compromises to be made. Again other Countries could just as easily mention stuff in an agreement where the US may screw them over. Like Canada and energy exports US refiners get a cheaper North American benchmark with this deal and Canada has to accept the discount (which we make even worse for ourselves without adequate pipeline infrastructure but that's a seperate issue)

It's clear that Trump and Trudeau aren't on friendly terms. It looks like some senators are gonna present a bill to limit Trump's trade powers since he doesn't represent a unanimous opinion and the 'national security' is pretty thin when it comes to steel and aluminum imports from Canada. like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still.
