FRANK1991 3,329
when I first start looking her up I was shocked by her videos but quickly became a fan and once I bought her albums I became a massive fan during TFM/ BTW ARTPOP I was so hyped but at the end of the era a bit letdown at how the album didn't age well for me. Joanne was not my type of music so I started listening to other artists tbh I still love her and follow her closely (or I wouldn't be on GGD) but I think I've figured out my prefer style of music. Cause once you let it go you better know it's gone
REALITY 77,426
My opinion of her certain has changed over the years. When she first came out with "Just Dance" I didn't really think much of her. I liked her songs, but I definitely wasn't a hardcore fan. I actually became a fan of her's during the ARTPOP era when she released "Applause." It's actually kinda funny because I listened to both "Applause" and "Roar" and at this point in my life I was pretty young and naive, and with everyone saying "Do you like 'Applause' or 'Roar' better?!", I felt like I had to pick a side. Obviously, I picked "Applause," and sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I had picked "Roar." Beyond just changing my opinion of her, she's definitely changed my opinion of art and music—a lot of that came from her whole ARTPOP philosophy though. I gained a more perceptive and diverse insight into what art is and what it means. She also helped me to find a love for music and helped me branch out in other music genres that I otherwise would not have even attempted to listen to had it not been for her and her versatility (i.e. rock and jazz). Going back to her again, I've definitely grown to appreciate her more as I've grown older, and as she's started to switch up her eras and stuff. I've grown to accept that she's a versatile artist—which is incredible because nowadays artists can feel really one-dimensional. I've also grown to love and accept the fact that she's doing acting—which was heavily reinforced by the ASIB trailer. Wherever she goes to next, I'm excited to see what 10 more years of Gaga's going to look like 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔲𝔰𝔦𝔠'𝔰 𝔤𝔬𝔫𝔫𝔞 𝔟𝔯𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔪𝔢 𝔟𝔞𝔠𝔨 𝔣𝔯𝔬𝔪 𝔡𝔢𝔞𝔱𝔥
Luxe Ford 3,481
Not really. Once I form a strong attachment to an epic superstar I stick around til the bitter end. It's a very common side effect of homosexuality. It's also dose depentent - the bigger the hunty, the bigger the obsession. What happens in Luxe Ford stays in Luxe Ford
Taide 5,789
Gaga exploded when I was about 8 years old. I remember telling to people that my favorite singer was that blonde girl who sang Poker Face. I also remember singing the intro for LoveGame to my sister and her friends without having any idea what it was about. I also loved LoveGame so much and I remember singing it at school alone. Also me and my sister bopped hard to Boys Boys Boys. When TFM era came I remember my aunt showing the BR music video to my mom because it was HUGE deal. But I kinda forgot about Gaga existing (I mean, what do you expect from 9 year old boy). Anyway Telephone came and it was huge hit in my country. I remember remaking the video with my sister in our room and watching the video in private, because I was scared I'd get caught. I didn't pay much after Telephone era for Gaga, mainly because Alejandro caused controversial and my mom insisted that I can't listen to Gaga anymore. So BTW era came and I remember HATING all the songs expect Judas. I remember when MTV played BTW and MTN videos and I yelled to my sister to take them because I couldn't stand Gaga. BUT I remember when I was at Barcelona in June 2011 and they started playing Judas in radio, so I told my mom that this song is good turn it louder (I was at the car with my uncle, mom and siblings). I guess I somehow knew that song immediately when it started to play. Judas was also my and my sisters favorite Gaga song from 2011-2016. I remember singing karaoke version of You and I alone. I still hated BTW era expect for few songs. Also Gaga was all over the planet at that time so you pretty much heard her voice where ever you went. ARTPOP era.. I mean I didn't know it existed until 2016. I watched VMA's, AMA's and followed the music news much closer than ever with my sister but I don't remember hearing much about Gaga so I forgot about her. In 2016 I was playing GTA V and I was listening to the Non Stop Radio station or whatever the name is. I always waited for a particular song (Applause) to play. I always got exited when it started to play, because I remembered some of the lyrics (which is fun, because I don't remember hearing it anywhere in 2013-14) but I guess I had heard it or it was just catchy. I remember after few weeks it was 4.11.2016 when I was super bored and went to Youtube. I searched for Applause, watched the video and I was amazed. I first got into Gaga's singles and later expanded to her album tracks also. It took me whole year to like all Gaga's songs. Anyway thanks to Applause, I am a huge Gaga fan and my sister and brother admire her. When we used to think she was this one hit wonder, she's actually very talented person in our opinion and we can't wait to see her one day in a concert. I was and I am still obsessed with ARTPOP, my sister loved PI and her favorite song of all time (all time, not just Gaga's) is G.U.Y and my brother who's 100% straight listens to DWUW at least once a day (which makes me bitter, because it could've been her 4th #1). I'm not sure if this answers your question, but I just wanted to share my story. EDIT: MESSS how long this text is omfg.
ryanripley 86,575
i was a super obsessed mega fan from BR to pre-C2C then my life got really busy with moving to university etc so i was just a casual fan waiting for some news from Joanne until now i've returned to following her every step and her transition into maturity has really helped me "grow up" when i needed to https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
Miss Cherry 43
Yes of course. I thought she was the only interesting new wave popstar out of the last 10 years+. I found Joanne boring as **** and I never bought it. I find her sometimes extremely pretentious in interviews. I also think she lies a lot and she is disengenuous regarding Madonna. However, I remain optimistic for the next album.
Glamourpuss 29,062
There have been moments where I've thought she was ruining her own career and I didn't enjoy the ARTPOP era at all. But I'm still as big a fan as I was at the beginning and I've been following her for the whole 10 years. I love where we are at now because a film with a big soundtrack was one of the things I wanted her to achieve. It's been a hell of a ride and I look forward to seeing what comes in the future. rumours 45,521
I didn’t really have any positive reaction to her till I hear The Edge of Glory on the radio. I wasn’t paying attention during the ARTPOP era and bought C2C while walking through Target cause I thought it would be a total disaster (due to her... I already loved Tony Bennett). It turned out to be good, so I payed attention to the Joanne era (which I overall thought was good). I honestly think her discography as a whole is just okay, but I’m here cause I think she is going to continue to improve with age. Hearing the snippet of The Shallow is very encouraging as well. She is immensely talented, so I’m looking forward to seeing how her career evolves in the future.
giskardsb 12,565
I'm not in general a pop fan, so to me she was all flash and not as much substance when she first came out and I ignored her. I kinda liked BR because it's a rock song in dance pop disguise, but Speechless on Ellen is when I really saw what was under the surface with her. I am a huge music fan and musician, so to me that is what matters. A lot of my favorite bands barely make enough money to keep touring, so I really don't care about chart success, sales, or if she can play stadiums, as long as she is still able to make music in some degree. All the "show" is gravy but unnecessary for me, and I never hero-worshipped any Gaga persona. I see her as a musician and performance artist who tries on personas all the time, so a lot of the stuff that causes conflict for Gaga stans, like "which is the real Gaga", or whether she's the top of the sales charts, are immaterial. What I love is that she is constantly trying new things, doesn't just do the same old thing because it was successful, her voice keeps improving, she is a genre chameleon. My respect for her as a musician and artist has only grown over the years, and I am always looking forward to her next adventure. And she really cares about making the world a better place. She's a great role model, if people can get rid of the stan glasses which poison the view.
weed 74,385
Even though I became a fan with Poker Face, honestly not really.... Like of course my love for her grew and grew and I guess that's my opinion on her changing but she's been an activist from the start, been gay from the start, beautiful, dancer, great songs, everything etc. from the start. She's evolved, but she hasn't really changed in core values, so my opinion hasn't really changed.. u kno? Always loved ha, ofc didn't agree w everything she does but didn't change anything
Mitosisoffuture 180
At first, I thought she would be just another ephemeral pop singer. I loved poker face but she seemed to be just a good singer. Now I can say she is truly an artist, truly interested in art (I don't see many modern pop singers doing that), always trying to change and to evolve. Everything she does is inspirational, deep and outstanding.
Vitleysingur 13,790
I can still recall the ecstasy that I felt while waiting for Born This Way world primere on 933FLZ. It was such a time when I followed every step she went. Years later, I loves her as always. Dreams of you and me are in the dirt.
