I hope it's not as "great" as Quiet Place which was good IMO but nowhere near the place they hyped it up to be.

This looks really good and the first time I saw the trailer, I knew I wanted to see it so it's on the list!

Not to mention the ending was so disappointing and left me hanged

I've already wached it yesterday it was good in the line of the babadook, it follows, and the witch, but it won't give you the scare of the exorcist, i mean when i watch TE (i was a kid) i felt like i was watching someting wrong and it gave me nightmares, Hereditary is an amazing indie horror movie, well crafted maybe it will shooking you but it won't haunt you. ( btw the cast was :vegas: especially Toni Collette)

May i ask if it’s more shock or gruesomeness?

The shock value is on par to the gruesome scenes in the film.

I felt dread throughout the first half of the film because it’s so tragic. In the end I was exhausted because it felt like a punch to the face, I want to see it again.

there is a lot of building up in the film that make you stay attached to your chair it always/most of times, end in a gruesomeness shoot of 1-2 seconds that make you felt in shoock. Im so happy that i didn't watch the trailer because it spoiled to much.

i can't speak english but i can if you like

Mostly slow-burning dread, with punctuations of shock and a few very gruesome visuals. It really has many different types of scares.

So just came back from watching the film. Definitely not the scariest film I've watched and I don't understand why it's hyped as such. The reviews made me think I would be witnessing the most horrific imagery I've ever seen, and that's simply not true. Nothing too grotesque or batsh*t insane. It was very tense and some scenes provided a good shock, but it wasn't the supernatural scenes that were shocking. The score was quite disturbing as well which I enjoyed.

To me, the scariest parts of the film weren't the supernatural scenes, but the scenes where the family experienced some kind of trauma. The emotions from the characters felt too real to the point where it made me feel uncomfortable. But other than that, I would say it's a solid film, but the hype around it seems to be too great. The performances are amazing but the scares aren't nearly as horrific as what reviews are suggesting.

Guys, this movie is ALL style and no substance. Honestly the most overhyped movie this year.

I left unaffected and almost laughing at how ridiculous it all was.

The acting and cinematography were A+ but they should have cut out the last 5 minutes - it seemed a drspearate attempt to tie up ends that never had a beginning.

Thank you - I’ve honestly scratched my head at reviews calling this the scariest movie of all time.

Im all for suspense horror but I left feeling like I watched a dark episode of The OC :ladyhaha:

I felt like this was a modern day version of The Witch. I actually really loved The Witch but this one didn’t do much for me.

I don’t know - horror continually disappoints me. The last movie to really affect me (in a horrific way) was Requiem for a Dream. And that’s not even horror.

Phenomenal, creative film that defies the cliches of the horror genre. Refreshing! Loved it.

I thought it was genius! Maybe there was a little too much going on, but still loved it.
