In my mind, I always though Christina was more relevant/a bigger star. However, I think objectively Kelly is the bigger star and has been for some time now. Maybe I’m a colossal flop for just realizing this now lol It's not that serious sis it's more sarcasm but really Kelly is much more successful and relevant than Xtina. While Xtina was hiding for 8 years fearing to flop Kelly dropped 4 top 3 albums including a #1 and 2 of them are platinum and the other is gold also her last one will probably be gold soon. SolidSnake 2,804
X-tina is more relevant thanks to the voice, Kelly hasnt had any big sort of hits in a little bit. Neither of them are particularly relevant musically. Kelly is really sweet though
Mr S 8,672
That's not fair. Kelly did not have her career ended by a phenomenon like Xtina did.
Skinny Legend 770
Kelly is like Pink. The underdog that outlasted many of her peers.

Dutch 91,262
Until this new era from Kelly C. She slayed with at least one single of the albums. She picked the wrong singles from Meaning Of Life tho. Heat was a perfect lead single. The album has so many great single worthy songs, but Love So Soft was trying to ride the trap-Taylor Swift-reputation vibe, which didn’t work for Taylor and definitely not for Kelly. Tho I still think Kelly is doing just fine this era. Xtina was away for way too long, she picks the wrong singles and tbh she is once again late with her sound of the album. Her last relevant solo song was Candyman from 2007. Thanks to Move Like Jagger, Feel The Moment and Say Something she at least had some momentum in her career the past 10 years. It’s sad tho, she was huge and she really is talented. I was so here for a successful era for her, but this won’t be it.
socotra 3,310
Kelly Clarkson (like P!nk, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Adele, Bruno Mars) is an artist without controversy, stellar vocal ability, and a genuine, likeable personality who comes out with family/radio-friendly bops every couple years. People still love her, and unlike Beyonce or Gaga, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who says, "Yeah, I hate Kelly Clarkson." Because she's likeable and makes love songs that aren't offensive anybody, I don't think she'll ever be entirely irrelevant so long as she's making music. She's very Adele-esque in that sense, in my opinion. Excluding her Christmas album (which was still the #1 selling holiday album of 2013), every album Kelly has released has produced at least one Top 10 song up until her most recent album. Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson both have 3 solo #1s on the Hot 100, the primary difference being that Aguilera's were her first 3 singles ever and has yet to get another one since and Kelly's have been sprinkled throughout her career. I don't think there's any question that Kelly is more relevant now and will continue to be more relevant throughout the next decade. Christina has remained in the public eye because of features and The Voice.

So due to Kelly’s likability and vocal ability, do you think she’ll be relevant longer than someone like Demi Lovato?
RAMROD 109,261
Kelly is more relevant because she is relatable. She doesn't dress crazy or slutty. Both are great voice, but since Kelly being more tame, she is more likeable. That's about it tbh. So due to Kelly’s likability and vocal ability, do you think she’ll be relevant longer than someone like Demi Lovato? Oh absolutely. For one, I don't think Demi Lovato has fully found her place in the music landscape. She's mildly popular without having a signature song, or even really a readily identifiable hit(s). Her highest charting single peaked at #6 with just 3 solo Top 10 songs for her entire career. Aside from poor chart performance, I also don't think she's fully broken out of her Disney roots, which is actually where I think a lot of people know her from rather than solely as a popstar. She also produces fairly generic pop songs and lacks the charisma of Kelly Clarkson or P!nk. She seems less like an adult popstar and more like a supersized up-and-coming Disney Channel starlet - and her Twitter rants don't help with that image. However, I don't think Demi Lovato is in the same echelon as Kelly Clarkson. I think Kelly will outlast Demi by a mile. I think that Kelly will probably be around as long as Bruno Mars, Rihanna, P!nk, Justin Timberlake, and Alicia Keys are.
Zaskar 3,918
Oh, wow! Always loved Kelly and all this positivity in this thread (something very hard to find on GGD) melts my heart OT: absolutely agree. Also, what about Carrie Underwood? Even she's way more relevant than Xtina, isn't she?

Although, they are very different artists, I’d agree and say Carrie Underwood is definitely more relevant than Christina (at least in North America). But we all know she's a very sweet, carefree person. This! I didn't know much about her until I watched her on a talk show and she came across as a really nice, down to earth person. And funny too! I'd hang with her. Not gonna happen, but in an alternate reality? What happens in Luxe Ford stays in Luxe Ford

I don't think relatability is necessarily the "key factor." Madonna's shtick has never been that she's "the girl next door." For Kelly, she was the first "American Idol", a show designed to take the girl next door and make her a star. It's a key part of Kelly's brand. Few artists nowadays have that quality and I think it's part of what adds to Kelly's popularity.
