Women stay silent because of socio-cultural power dynamics, men stay silent for fear of being shamed and laughed at rather than helped (a flip side of the same motivation that keeps women silent in cases of abuse). He has a point though... I understand that in this particular situation it definitely wasn't sexual assault. Max thought it was a harmless prank, and so that ends this discussion. That said, if it were the same exact thing, expect a male artist doing it to one of his female friends (even if their female friend didn't think of it as sexual assault), people would be saying "Oh you're awful!" and "You can't joke about that stuff like that!" Maybe but both of your points are irrelevant as he is saying "in this specific case". As for M Monstre you only assuming thatd happen we have no evidence thatd point to that happening. It's rooted in our society. Being perceived as "masculine" is often times more important than actually talking about the issues. There have been times where men (and often teenage boys) have been sexually assaulted by female teachers and adult women. Now here is an actual issue of sexual assault, yet it doesn't get as much coverage and is definitely not taken as seriously as it would have been if the roles had been reversed. Katy Perry kissing that American idol contestant got a LOT of discussion until he said it wasnt sexual assault. Once someone said it isnt, then its not full stop.
