HUGEEEE

but I don't think it's realistic thoughΒ :sweat:

Now I'm afraid the movie will be too commercial for OscarsΒ :derpga:

Titanic and LotR Return of the King were both VERY commercial films and both won 11 oscars.

My English professor is... weird. He was talking about the midterm paper and noted that we will be graded on what sites we choose to cite. He goes on to say that sites like Wikipedia and ones that end in .com aren't really reputable.Β

Then he adds to the list "ladygaga.com"Β

I was so caught off guard, why would we EVEN go to her website :lmao:

Now the approach of the AcademyΒ is very different

There's a real difference regarding 'Artistic' films and Blockbusters

That's why there's talks for the 'Best Popular Picture' award going on

And maybe ASIB is getting between those categories and this can be disadvantageousΒ

A movie professional said in his video that ASIB might be too commercial to pretend getting a lot of Oscars, but still saw it being nominated

But we'll see I guessΒ :vegas::vegas::vegas:

Nowadays, blockbuster hits might seem like something the academy won't touch. But, being a commercial film isn't really a problem if it gets critics by its side, which is what ASIB seems to be doing. I mean, that didn't stop Gravity, Dunkirk, and The Martian from getting Oscar nominations, even Gravity went on to be an Oscar jaggernaut. I know comparing ASIB to these films isn't really a great comparison since they're very different from ASIB. But still, ASIB has many things that the academy loves. They LOVE musicals, eventhough ASIB is more of a borderline musical :ladyhaha:. They love films about entertainment industry especially if they're romance about people inside the industry, like La La Land or The Artist. La La Land also made $150 million domestically, not so bad for an 'overrated' musical. They love emotional dramas with top notch, dramatic acting. They love Bradley Cooper, who's been nominated 4 times. They clearly loved all 3 previous ASIB versions, not so much about 1976 but the film didn't go home empty handed anyway. As long as the material screams oscar worthy, the academy will eat it up. But you're right, we'll see, it's gonna be a long season :vegas:

VOX here in Lebanon have it out on Oct11. I don't see why it wouldn't be out / it would be censored where you are. :rip:

But the reason why ASIB could be a box office success is because of its critical acclaim hence more and more people are interested in this movie and the box office success just would be like a side effect. There was no hype at all about the movie before the trailer hit us and the first people reacted to this movie....Β
