I think it's interesting how Carrie Underwood and Josh Groban who opened with 164,000 and 177,000 with their last albums respectively have these release dates. 9/28 was avoided even though it's still in time for the Grammy deadline (both of them are Grammy nominee favorites). 

I know I'm probably reaching but it isn't out of the ordinary for industry people to have access to the release dates of upcoming albums. Their teams probably saw A Star Is Born - LADY GAGA on 9/28 and avoided it on purpose. 

On 9/28 we still only have that Prince compilation and Troye Sivan album, 2 albums that were never going to be in the running for #1. Knock on wood but it seems like it's going to remain that way..

They are really messy. Let's hope but I'm not expecting them to suddenly become a super solid team when it comes to radio and spotify.

I highly doubt she is doing 300k in Asia again. Even with a more pop sounding album. You don't go from 90k to 300k just like that (sadly). I'd expect something like 150k-180k from Asia. But yes I do see 1M pure WW for sure.

True. Honestly only MR sounded like an AC / HAC potential hit. Everything else had very unfiltered vocals, screechy vocals, loud vocals and raw production in general (not a bad thing btw...it's what makes me love the album) but yeah like you mentioned nothing works commercially on the album so I'd be scared too if I was an exec.

Same. I feel like the ASIB soundtrack will sell itself and even if i does not do too well it's just a side project of sorts. I doubt she is going to promote anything other than the lead or maybe 2 songs at most from it. But yeah LG6 is going to be tricky. Building hype for a Gaga album is going to be much more difficult this time around.

Tbh Joanne had almost zero hype after PI flopped and she had more than decent first week sales. People still underestimate her star power and she still has a rather big fanbase and also got new fans since 2014... I am more worried about the following weeks after release of the album. I hope that the messy actions of her team will be more limited this time. But we will see.....

Joanne got a really good first week of sales without any hit and even after that it was selling pretty good. If she did this with a country-pop album, I can totally see her doing better with a pop album.
