I'm actually really interested in tracking Box Office grosses, so it'll be fun getting to track a movie that's Gaga's movie lol. I bet it will be primarily a domestic movie with at least 75% of its total gross coming from the states.

Trailer #1 : 2 songs with Bradley Cooper / 1 song with Lady Gaga

Auto-quote for add: 2 OR 3 songs by Bradley Cooper ? :triggered:

@00'00 - 00'40 => Song #1 by Bradley Cooper

@00'47 - 01'22 => Song #2 by Bradley Cooper

@01'40 - 02'13 => Song #3 by Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga :lolly:

Anyway, the transition of the songs / instrumental is perfect, good job Warner.

The budget, marketing campaign and the part of the ticket price that doesn't go to the studio. Usually the total cost is three times the production budget. The rest of the box office are the benefits. So more or less ASIB would need more than 120m to earn benefits.

$40M was the budget.

Thanks. Now generally, the marketing cost doubles the budget (depending on how aggressive they go) so just as a general rule, it needs $80m to break even. Cinemas take a percentage of grosses (50% domestic, around 60% for a Europe and 90% for China).

If it gets several noms for oscars it can do more than that overseas

receipt? :reductive:

"“A Star Is Born,” starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, has been allocated a $7 million production tax credit by the California Film Commission."

"The credit is set at 20%, but producers are eligible for an additional 5% “uplift” if they shoot outside the L.A. zone, commit to music scoring or music track recording in the state, or to do visual effects in California."

https://variety.com/2017/film/news/lady-gaga-bradley-cooper-star-is-born-tax-credit-1201986747/

7 x 5 = 35 + 2 = $37.

So, plus some miscellaneous expenses, I think 40 is a good number

It’s double. Where did you get triple? Or did you already factor in the cinema % there?

I did. It's what I've read in many pages about box office. To earn benefits, a film generally must triple its budget

I wonder how much Gaga's getting for the movie? Does she agree to a # up front, or does it depend on the success?
