Is Gaga still culturally relevant?

Gaga changed the way pop stars are marketed. Her impact continues to be felt right down to even  artists naming their fans, to pop artists making artsy videos & wearing couture (as opposed to the lowkey looks of the mid 00s when most female pop artists default setting was "sexy club girl). In that way she will always be culturally relevant. So as a cultural figure her influence lives on & connects to the current time.

Exactly! The whole talk of relevance feels really gossipy and almost childish to me, idk

It really diminishes the conversation from genuine critique to treating these artists like they're disposable (this becomes a bit problematic since the world & media at large already looks at women this way). There is nothing wrong with discussing charts and an artists place in the world, it's just that the way people talk about those things has (unsurprisingly) devolved into something else.

I mean she is a singer, she's doing really fine right now, what more do you want? She's not the president of the United States or something.

She headlined Coachella, traveled across North America and Europe for $95 million, headlined the Superbowl, is starring in movies and TV shows screened across the globe, is constantly on the radio (especially after The Cure was released), she's one of the most popular names in the world. I think she's doing far better than those young artists nowadays like Dua Lipa or Camila Cabello.

How is ASIB, a movie that has a lot of drug influence, directed towards the older people?

Gaga obviously doesnt have the impact that she had in 2010 and 2011 when LITETALLY everyone changed their sense of fashion to fit the hype, but it's not to say her impact now is non-existent.

She's not the first person to put out a Folk, Americana and Country-ish album and I'm not necessarily saying that she popularized it amongst the likes of Miley Cyrus and JT and Kylie, but she was ahead of the curve in the mainstream category.

To me, she's always one step forward the current trend and if she tries hard enough like she did back in 2009, she can easily cause another stir in the music industry. She just needs to care to do it.

People remember the old Gaga and I’m pretty sure they’ll reference her there and there. I always hear people say “it looks like something Lady Gaga would wear” whenever they see something eccentric. But they don’t know where she is or what she is doing now.

Kinda like Kesha, people remember Tik Tok but they have no idea she’s still alive

Old Gaga and current Gaga are two separate entities. The first one is cemented in the GP’s memories but the current one is nonexistent to them.

People remember Poker Face, and to an extent Bad Romance. Those songs definitely made an impact in the few years following, but now they've done all they can tbh. Even Gaga's fashion and its impact (shown in the "before + after gaga" image) lasted like 2 years

This is so wrong on so many levels. Gaga changed the fashion sense in the music industry since 2008 and her impact is still going on. It's indirect because being outspoken when it comes to fashion is now cemented into the music industry, but it's something Gaga herself cemented.
