LA Times: Gaga fading from pop scene

MTV is notorious for getting upset when artists don't attend their Awards show when they're invited. They've given bad press to almost anyone who wasn't dying, that failed to attend.

But Gaga fading from the pop scene? She pretty much launched this dance/electro era we've been in when she came out with the Fame. Before that pop music had been fading on it's own for years. Once Just Dance & Poker Face hit, within months everyone was releasing pop music.

Gaga always gets all the cynical "she's over" speculation when there are other artists whose longetivity is questionable. Rihanna's Rated R and Talk That Talk albums underperformed hugely and I haven't heard the media say that Rihanna's almost over. She's only had two massively successful album eras (Good Girl Gone Bad and Loud) over the course of six albums which is really rather shameful. She's got loads of hits but a hella lot of flops too. Despite Katy Perry's amazing success for the last two years, I constantly hear comments from the public that her 15 minutes are almost over and say that her next "goth" album is going to flop. Yet the media treats her like she's on legendary level. Nicki Minaj's pop career is already looking terminal before it even got started and the public are starting to get really irritated by her. The public's views can be very different for the media and rest assured that if Gaga continues to release commercial pop singles, the public will eat them up. The media can say whatever they like about Gaga's "failing" career, but the public will prove them wrong.

Can someone explain this "blackout" to me?

She's basically refusing to promote herself. No new material being released, no promotional performances, no interviews, just disappearing for months. The hope is that people will start to miss her meaning when she returns with new material, everyone will download it in their millions. She knew she was getting overexposed and people were tiring of her, so took an extended break, making people realise that they didn't know what they had until it was gone.

Well this media blackout is working, but even with that.. the media are still wondering where Gaga is and why she isn't dominating the charts. I love it. Gives her a perfect platform to come back with a bang.

The irony of it is that Lady Gaga publicly said she was going on a break for a bit, and a lot of sources reported on it.

Yet they're still wondering? SHE TOLD YOU SHE WAS LEAVING.

sometimes people don't get nominated. it's not really a big deal.

They bashed the BTW album and the BTW tour too, and said she was fading after 'Alejandro' and 'Judas'

I just felt like posting this for kicks

Another sign?

:lmao:

Oh man, never mind looking at cold hard facts concerning cultural impact, the BTWB, the album, her never-before-seen worldwide following for any star of any sort, her basically having reshaped the whole industry and continuing to do so, single-handedly saving Vogue's face/profits and helping resurrect Versace just by wearing their vintage pieces, her new album, her charity work, her gazillion artistic projects and pursuits of the last few months (too many to list)... Nooooo, just stay pressed that she denied you, the "almighty media", the biggest headlines and gossip you could have had during her blackout and has cost you a f**kton of money in doing so.

Even if she fades out now, what she has done in such a short time is more than anything I could have thought she would be able to do in such a short time span. Whoosh.

But she isn't so whatevs.

Ugh, I'm sorry, but I literally hate Carly Rae Jepson...with a passion...probably because if I hear that song one more effin time, I'm gonna break somethin. And plus she's just not talented at all. Amazing what one song can do...

100% AGREE! That song is ATROCIOUS! I can't stand listening to it. I still don't understand why its doing so well on the charts

The writing is atrocious, but I must say the instrumental s actually really great. Like, if I mute her out it's really is a fantastic instrumental. If she had any say in composing/producing the instrumental, I've gained a lot of respect for her.

Why would she be nominated? She's not even attending and the only video she would be nominated for is Marry The Night. It's obvious they wanted to give nominations to people that are showing up.

Someone at LA Times has it out for her obviously.

I doubt they would've made this article about Katy Perry had she had a similar situation lol
