If I read correctly, this was Dolly's 20th album so you can imagine her desire to branch off into different styles and it was successful for awhile. Hope to have my rates in by tomorrow! Yeah, it was her 20th. For much of the 60s and early 70s, she could crank out multiple albums in a year. That’s part of the reason why her discography is pretty massive. While Here You Come Again (album) was playing with country pop, this album is where she really starts doing genre experimentation (disco, Adult contemporary, elements of R&B, etc. ). I thought it would be interesting to see what people thought. On one hand, hardcore country fans were literally calling it heresy.
