Katy has a bigger voice and her songs are way more meaningful than anything that Britney has put out. It’s a different time in music. Bubblegum pop alone just doesn’t get you Grammy’s these days. I agree but I also feel that Prism was a great moment for Katy in music. I feel like her downfall is choosing these “fun” singles and making these corky videos. On Prism in particular she could have put out some of the more meaningful songs like “Double Rainbow” “By The Grace of God”. Katy plays it safe and she stays in her lane. She also had some very lyrically great and meaningful songs on Witness like “Pendulum” and “Power” but instead she went for the playful “Bon Appetite” and “Swish Swish”. I think her main focus is to put music out that she feels her fans will love in attempts to top the charts which most artists do. But her choices just aren’t always right.
