Its so rare for planes to have accidents that each time it does happen it makes it to the news Car crashes happen almost every second on earth so we rarely hear about it anymore unless it's a massive crash that makes it on local city news Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

A friend once told me that, although car travel is more dangerous/likely for an accident, you perhaps are more likely to survive a car accident (obviously it varies) so maybe we aren't as afraid of driving/we do it every day but a plane accident is pretty much 100% lethal. (I, too, have that anxiety so severely that I either drink or take something to get through it. Sucks when you love to travel!) OT: RIP. What is up with aviation these days? I know "If it bleeds it leads" on the news (and correlation doesn't mean causation) but if you do a simple google search of ______ airline, there's usually a recent incident of oxygen masks dropping; smoke in the cabin, etc (even if it isn't lethal, it's terrifying).
