Would Gaga be more popular if she had extreme sex appeal, was conventionally pretty, and made bubble gum pop music? 

Like Britney and Katy? 

Just think about it everyone loved Britney cause she not only was a great performer (well Britney is more up to par with that, no shade to Katy whom is a good performer tho) and made bubble gum pop music, but was the Girl Next Door with the sex appeal and looks (in a conventional way).And same with Katy. 

So would Gaga be more popular if she was? And how do you think she would compare to the others if she did? Would she be as

I admire the fact Gaga chooses to push the evenlope and be different, cause Hollywood always wants women to sell sex and be the skinny hot girl.

I'd rather her be real than be a Katy Perry or Britney Spears type image. That's not meant as shade either  Katy started being real with Witness (real enough for the GP, me included, to notice) and I started to like her more. Witness is a great album and I like her now but I'll pass on all her other stuff. Same goes for Britney in a way. I only became a stan after she had her breakdown. She became so human in such a public manner that I couldn't help but love her and all of her post-2007 work

Gaga was never really "fake" imo but, for me, started to appear real when she was on the Monster Ball. Born This Way cinched it and ARTPOP solidified it (specifically Swine  That song broke me ).

I can't stan a bubble gum, sexy, pop-bop machine. Not unless they have an exceptional personality that I could appreciate separately from their music.

I'm too picky  but that's why Gaga and Michael are the only artists I really stan. Exceptional people with extraordinary talent who never came off as being fake at all. Britney, Janet, Lizz Wright, and Elizaveta make up my second tier, Katy and the rest of the artists I like are in the third.

Yes, she would be, but she has more artistic clout than any of the other pop girls except maybe Beyonce. As I go further into Legit Adulthood, Gaga and Beyonce are the only main pop girls who I can mention being a fan of in public without anyone giving me a wtf look. Also Rihanna, to a lesser degree though

imo no. gaga is popular because she is not like the others. unconventionality and weirdness is the very reason why she is so well-known today. if she was anything like all the other pop singers, she'd fade into obscurity with her latest album and try to reboot herself in one of those outdated TV talent shows

Being sexy yet weird was what made FameGa so iconic, then she went overboard after Bad romance, such a turn off look wise, the music is still amazing tho.

She regained a little bit of that sexyness during certain parts of ARTPOP, but i dont think that plays an important part, gaga is all about the theatrics and raw talent.

I don’t think so. Her popularity came not only from her talent but because she was sort of the anti-popstar in a way which encompassed both her music and looks. She separated herself from other artists and did not use her sex appeal for gain from the very beginning of her career. So I don’t think it matters because she never made it necessary. If anything, her lack of conventional beauty and mainstream sex appeal has helped her, in my opinion.

Because they are the conventional girl next door girls with bubble gum pop hits and boobs. And they get the public’s attention because of it. But oh yeah Gaga is gorgeous no doubt. Tbh when she’s all’s dolled up she beats the other pop girls in looks by far! Her face is unique and that’s one of the things I love about her. She isn’t your Britney or Katy or Ariana, she’s Gaga and that speaks for itself.

Gaga has something Katy, Taylor and Ariana do not have, star quality. She is iconic and is always renewing herself and surprising the GP. What's missing for her to be popular is a commercial album, great performances and a fresher look

But the reasons why Gaga is as famous and still reigning as one of the best pop artists ever graced this Earth not because she's cute or has that bubbly image, or make bubblegum pop. It's because she's not afraid to be different and pushes the envelope further which helps her has this dedicated fanbase who will suck d*cks or create fake soccer mom twitters to support her. 

She's not your usual pop star. She has star power and her presence is larger than life. 

If she was just an another bubblegum sexy pop girl, would y'all be here for her?Or can pop music was changed in the past?
