She was best known for her role as Lois Lane alongside Christopher Reeve in the Superman series of films in the 1970s and 80s.

A funeral home in Livingston, Montana, where the actress lived, said Kidder died at her home on Sunday.

The Canadian-born actress acquired American citizenship in 2005, and became a political and women's rights activist alongside her acting.

The cause of her death is not yet known.

A shame. I loved her. I was too nervous to send a fanmail request to her :( at least I got the autograph of the first love action Lois before she passed on. I hope Margot passed away peacefully.

She was also in the old school Amityville Horror.  A decent actress and they always said she was a super nice lady. Sad.

So sad. Superman was one of the first movies I saw. I haven't seen it in a long time, but I'll always remember her face and voice ("You got me? Who's got you?!").

RIP :(

I mostly remember her for her horror work in "Amityville" and "Black Christmas."

RIP Margot.
