Cherry 17 Posted July 31, 2012 Share Posted July 31, 2012 It kind of irritates me that in 2010-2011 everyone went on about how MTV 'knew what was up' for giving Gaga 13 VMAs and the most VMA wins in one night, but now that she's nominated they're being labelled as pointless and illegitimate. Maybe because the nominations were actually good in 2010 and they suck this year. Compare "Dog Days Are Over" and "Bad Romance" to "Where Have You Been" and "Wide Awake". ...that's what I thought. But these nominations are crazy. Why are Somebody That I Used To Know, Bad Girls and Wide Awake nominated for Video of the Year when none of them are nominated for the respective male/female categories? Surely if they are in contention to be named the best music video of the year they would be considered better than the other videos in the male/female categories that didn't make the cut? Love her or hate her, her videos for Born To Die, Blue Jeans and National Anthem are so impressive and it's a shame she won't be getting any recognition for them. I saw the choices they have for Video of the Year and Best Pop Video. Seriously, the people at MTV must be smoking something. Not watching it this year; not because of Gaga not being nominated, but because they made poor choices overall with their nominations. It's the same 5 artists in each category.
