I think you're right, in the 2000 there were so many artist, like BEP, Gwen, Britney I think, the most I remember.

And I meant Lady Gaga as in what she represents in this era or her debut, freshness, breaking boundaries and inovation as much as shocking factor.

And I meant timing as well, not age with the Madonna comparison, I used as icons not personas.

 

Although I do feel like we won't get another big shocking star, we have moved on from those times when artist used to unite us or make us hag. Maybe it's my age, but I don't think I'll be able to Stan as hard as I do for Gaga to another new start.
