Kanye can flop 1,000,000 times over, but the world is still talking about him and he's still a legend.

I'm sure if you ask anyone about Kayne they'll remember the VMA incident rather than his music.

Is more iconic now, more than ever.

Ummm no. She was mad that he never showed her the line "Why? I made that bitch famous" And that's also what she was referencing at the grammys when she talked about other people claiming credit for your success. Taylor was famous before the interruption thing otherwise she wouldnt have won that award in the first place.

There is no clip of him showing her that line. She said what she said on the phone because she was fine with the "me and taylor might still have sex" line.

Also putting a naked wax figure of someone in a music video without their consent is kinda ****ed up too if you ask me.

Kanye is the real snake here. and ofc his wifey for making the "expose" tweets in the first place. People were looking for a reason to hate her so badly that everyone just jumped on that opportunity without even questioning it.

I love Taylor Swift's music, but she has done many things to tarnish her reputation, its not like im basing all of this off of assumptions first of all... its literally the vague theme of her entire recent album :gum:

I have read all of the stuff, engaged in all of the debate, and obviously questioned it. I'm not too interested in debating the optics because although there are many questionable angles, they still point to her having taken advantage of the situation for exposure at Kanye's expense; the severity and the angle are the only factors up for debate.

First, she said that she (and her team i guess) strongly urged Kanye against releasing such a strongly misogynistic song.

In reality, she knew about the song's existence, with the line "Me and Taylor might still have sex" and completely okay'd it.  That's already a strike.

Kim did not release the entire video/recording, but in it, Taylor does say

"...Are gonna be like, yeah she does, it made her famous. You know, but it's more provocative to say like still have sex" (the emphasis on still is in the recording)

People have tried to posit that this means that she did not know about the rest of the line (its connected to the first), in which he says "Yeah, I made that bitch Famous"

Taylor has every right to object to being called a "bitch" it is in many regards still a sexist slur, and I obviously respect her ability to do so.

However, much of the press in this issue from Swift's side comes from the assumption that Kanye is saying that he made her famous. Like at the Grammy's - this is what she's responding to, as she was famous beforehand, undoubtedly.

However, even though she may not have known about the word "bitch", its clear from context from the excerpts we have that she did know the attitude and message of "madeX famous", and the line I've quoted above is saying that she was okay with it. She understood the line or general attitude of the song was Kanye saying that he made other people famous, arrogantly. She says "her" and talks as if she is the audience responding to the message in the same line as she comments on the "still have sex" part, so its not a stretch to assume she knows the line is about her, but even if you assume she doesn't, its clear she knows the line's message.

~~

So she's stretched the truth. And she used that little bit of nuance to attack Kanye. The fact that she blatantly lied about the permission in the first place, and then tried to make it about something else, even using public platforms to air her disdain for the song's lyrics... I'm not a big fan of "snake" or whatever, as I believe the connotation of snakes being liars is a remnant of Adam and Eve mythos, which might also make it a bit sexist. It's duplicitous however, at best.

Kanye is most certainly a sexist, foolish, narcissistic person. All I am saying is that I'm sure he felt betrayed and attacked by this chain of events, and he has a right to say it led to his hospitalization, as he clearly cares very much about his music's commercial success and to an extent, his personal reputation. That is all.

Inferno

I feel like artists like Kanye and Gaga strive to change the direction of radio with their power and their platforms. They don't always want to simply adhere to the algorithms, they play with popular forms and try to mold them in different ways. So lets say he did want to get Pablo on radio, it would've been something a little more interesting for the everyday radio listener.
