I know it's not his goal to top his previous album (my favorite FJM work btw) but still, it feels jarring to see him sing love songs again (except for mr. tillman which is a BOP) after a very politically-charged piece of work. I listened to the full album and it's not a love album. It's about how depressed he's been this past year. There are a few songs about love but only because it seems he found strength on his wife to keep living. There's a song where his wife is literally begging him to not kill himself.
