Holy ****. I’m proud of my country (or not) for once! I swear to god, this show sabotages the international/young artists everytime. They use them for ratings and eliminate them the last episodes. Maybe make up excuses like health issues to do so. I was so sure that some of the older Chinese singer would win like previous seasons. This means that China is progressing. Holy **** I’m shook. The country is getting less corrupted I guess. Queen Jessie better change China so I can identify myself as a Chinese proud.

she is such a good singer, she really deserves this. I wish she got more attention for her singing. She needs some big ballads for her next album

Good for her. Out the couple of performances I saw, she truly deserves it. Hopefully this is just the start of her international success. :golfclap:

I’m not even being extra. My brother has worked in this show for few seasons. In the beginning of the show he promised that she will be eliminated at last so a specific Chinese singer would win. He even wanted to bet with me because he said he knew how the director/writers are gonna script this. I think the result is based on votes. Idk if it’s rigged or maybe Jessie J’s team paid them a **** load of money, but if she as a foreigner won I actually believe how real the result was. China respecting and not rigging a vote is a piece of huge news to me. That’s what my city is hoping for actually. I mean if this isn’t just a music show and China actually let us vote for our leaders and give us democracy. I would literally cry my happy tears like a baby.

Spoiler

Uh oh. Hope China Gov isn’t already on me and hacking my iPad full of Gay ****.

Spoiler

But if you Chinese hackers are reading, unban Gaga!!!

It's sad. When I was in china a random woman on the subway started talking to us about how the government is corrupt and pretending it's a democracy when it really isn't (which we already knew but it was interesting hearing it from an actual chinese person) Also i was shook that GGD isn't blocked :ladyhaha:

Do you use a VPN for youtube? or do you not access it at all? And are VPNs forbidden or not I have read conflicting things

I’m from Hong Kong. Not recent Chinese immigrants who don’t work at all and only spend our welfare money. I’m native Hong Kong. (I don’t want to sound like Trump but it really is a different thing here. The policies allow them to come for no reasons but to use our resources like housing. My generation literally have to wait 20 years + for a government subsidised flat because of them while a decent private house is now at least USD$1Mil, so almost half of our population are millionaires(on heavy mortgages)) That’s why as a Hong Konger, someone who kinda support independence, I always hate to identify myself as a Chinese.

Im not being mean but I’m pretty sure half of China’s population aren’t literate enough to understand democracy. They are brainwashed thinking that the ‘Party’ is bigger than god (if they knew god is a thing in other parts of the world). You might know China from all that new tech company and stuff but majority of China lives under poverty and that’s fact.

The “democracy” in China is soooooo cringey. First of all I’m oretty sure democracy means every citizen can vote. But Chinese democracy works Sth like a person representing e.g. a County or sth. It’s not even democracy right? I’ve recently seen news video of people voting to pass a law or Sth. Almost 99% agreed, if that was democracy then China must be the least divided country in the world :toofunny:

My brother, as a musician works in China because high budget shows like Singer! exist so he can make a living instead of being stuck in a cultural desert like Hong Kong. These shows however is the riches’ toys. The way they purchase new and advanced equipments for every seasons is almost not environmentally friendly.

The internet ban actually exists. However people with higher income are benefited from being able to access more stable paid VPN services. My brother uses a VPN that I established for him at home in Hong Kong so that he can use internet freely and we can FaceTime etc. I think when people say that the internet in China isn’t banned only because they are constantly connected to a VPN, which tbh isn’t hard to find.

Spoiler

I hope I can still enter China next time visiting my brother after saying all that **** publicly.

Spoiler

Jk. But a pro-democracy president of student union of one of the universities actually got denied entry to Macau recently :toofunny:

Spoiler

And I have tickets to Bruno’s show. DONT BAN ME!

I'm not that surprised, but I don't know how this program works.

Jessie J is a major international pop star. The fact that she is the first "international singer to win" is a bit fallacious since there was hardly a major international star in the show before. She has been on top of the charts all over the world... Other international singers were mostly from Asian countries.

She is also very acclaimed for her voice. And not just in China, but again all over the world. How could she not win this? It would be too embarassing for her. As good as the other singers are, she is the only voice that is critically acclaimed worldwide. We can't pretend these things don't matter.

And she has been trying so hard over the years to get her career to lift off. She is a good example of a pop star who had two hits but never really got the chance to become big. But she doesn't give up. This was a low step for her but she had to continue somewhere. This goes straight to her curriculum and her team would never let her lose.
