Of course, such things as facts have never stopped US and it's allies starting new wars or escalating ongoing conflicts. Of course it is possible that Assad did those things he's accused of but it is also possible that Israel and US are the guilty ones which wouldn't be surprising. Also, US government talking about "retaliation" is just propaganda. Attack against Assad wouldn't be "retaliation", it would be just another unnecessary attack that would escalate the war in Syria thus make everything worse. Americans have nothing to worry though about because USA is the most secured country in the history of the world but innocent Syrian civilians have a lot to worry about, like mindless bombings by US-led forces and terrorist groups supported by US and other foreign forces. It's not the US being nosy, it's the US and other allies trying to protect people from their own government, many of which they had not voice in, or no longer have a voice in. Nazi Germany would have full control over Europe and the Holocaust would have continued and probably would have extended to other ethnical minorities. Countries like France, UK, Sweden, Poland etc. wouldn't exist anymore. So are you really fine with the Holocaust being continued and millions of people being murdered just for the sake of not wanting USA for acting out of "self-interest"? I don't know about you, but I would rather live in an American controlled Europe than in a Nazi controlled Europe.
