if we go to war over syria that's going to be the dumbest thing ever. i know assad used chemical weapons and that is in total violation of international law but how about a joint coalition with NATO or some sh*t? not this US goes it alone thing. SOLIDARITY world!!!

Assad is a war criminal. I agree we should have a multi-country retaliation, but if we have to go it alone to stand against war crimes, then it's worth it.

i disagree. i think it should be a joint international effort (maybe through the UN or NATO) or nothing. i know it's important to stand against war crimes bc assad is setting a dangerous precedent for war but i think the world needs to come together and enforce their international laws. and more importantly when the US gets involved in something like this, chances are they get stuck there like iraq and afghanistan. and then people at home get upset, the troops end up leaving, and then things like ISIS happen :/

Using nuclear weapons or being in possession of them in my opinion should also be a war crime. If you look at the history of America and the U.K. there’s plenty of war crimes they’ve committed. Napalm bombs on school children for instance....

 joint international effort  or nothing

Doing nothing allows the precedent to be set. We can't let that happen. France has already stated their willingness to strike/retaliate, so hopefully we won't be going at it alone. I think what you're talking about is a good point to bring up, we should be careful about how we leave a situation just like we're careful to enter it, and we definitely could have done better in the past. That shouldn't bar us from acting, however.

They definitely won't be if we pull out completely. You can't just give up when you're tired of defending the world. Besides, pulling out and becoming isolationists won't prolong American interests throughout the world. The reason we have such an extensive foreign outreach and military bases all over the world is because we want our interests to be continued.

you're disgusting. **** you and your interests  haven't had a wp in a while so it's nice to spend some on americans encouraging their continued ****ing of the middle east

Can we just have a civil discussion without the swearing. Me and @FATCAT don’t agree with each other yet we stayed mature. There’s no need for insulting one another - everybody has different opinions.

the most i would be comfortable with is like what happened last time. a controlled and limited strike against the facilities where these gasses are launched from or housed. no boots on the ground, no drone strikes, no more intervention than that
