Their opinions should be the first thing that matters. The moment record companies get involved and try to tell you to go in one direction for this sound or to try something else for a certain amount of hit records, that’s bulls—t. It’s about if you bring something fresh and new to the game and it works, everyone else is going to cling on and try to do the same. If you’re the creator, you have the longevity in the business and it gives you the creativity and freedom to try something else new and fresh, and it always works. Gaga fans take note. freebit 6,240
I can't believe that her road to stardom almost didn't happen because Jimmy Iorvine didn't want an artist too similar to Gwen Stefani out there. He was/is really all about Gwen with that "her highness" nickname. The music industry is just...crazy to me sometimes. I can understand trying to nix competition, but she was signed to Interscope (even if on an imprint label), and it's like he thought the label could just cannibalize her songs & discard her, and he probably would have let her sit there to rot until before finally letting her go - like many artists I've seen stuck on a label that doesn't care to promote them or let them release anything. I dislike Akon and his fairweather bs, but I'm glad she had people actively trying to promote her back then.

Like he didn't have to share that but he did. They just seem like the perfect duo I can't even. Ohhh do you know the source for this? I always get impressed, as several times we hear from her collaborators that she is very generous with credit sometimes, and many times a chunk of the song is purely her. I know Rick Rubins said that about Dope, how he felt he was merely there to help her record, while she ultimately crafted the majority of the song. 3 points in and ready for more

Seriously he said like nothing but positive things. He's definitely one of the most positive and supportvie guy she could be surrounded with. Yup. I think her one producing credit was in Paparazzi? Maybe Brown Eyes, too. Although, there has been debate, noting that up-and-coming artists tend to not get as much credit as they deserve. Who knows? RedOne is definitely kind and genuine, and probably wouldn't hide credit from her, so maybe Gaga did have a some production input, but probably as an initial learning process. 3 points in and ready for more
Anderson123 38,173
REDONE: She reminded me of an artist who was the whole inspiration of the Gaga sound — her name is Leila K, from Sweden back in the day. I said, “Gaga, I want to play for you this artist because if we can do what she did and make it now, it can change the world.” That’s how I wanted to do an album that was different at the time for everybody — with synths, big drums, big hooks — but with the attitude of Gaga inspired by Leila K. Am I the only one listening to this artist ? It's actually quite amazing. I can see why they were inspired by her to make the sound of The Fame.
