A sudden spike in gas prices could put throw many consumers over the edge and the economy at risk Trudeau Continues not to comment on the trade war but insists the pipeline will get built. British Columbia has so far managed to delay the project by nearly 2 years with legal challenges and Construction Permit delays in addition to Threating future bitumen export bans from its coast if the pipeline is built something 2 courts already ruled is illegal for BC to do. On one hand, so much of Canada's exports is based on oil so you can just cut it out but on the otherhand I think a lot of people would rather we have other industries with cleaner images. Lol, how's the trump administration treating y'all Jk, I think it kinda has to do with the division of powers between the federal and provincial governments in Canada. There's nothing wrong with shifting more green and growing tech industries as part of a gradual shift But having a $20/barrel discount on our benchmark (world oil over $60 a barrel and ours barely $40) due to lack of pipeline capacity and loosing so many billions is kinda pathetic Canada has imposed some strict and expensive environmental conditions for the Oil Industry to continue to operate here. Add chronic price discounts and the industry can't thrive. But they are hoping it will pay off by getting them to back down Alberta has 97% of Canadas oil reserves and over 60% of production and the price discounts are hitting them really hard and they are desperate for more pipeline capacity The last 4 major pipelines have so far failed to get built as regulatory delays and opposition caused some to get canceled (like Energy East and Northern Gateway) and others still waiting (like Keystone XL and Enbridge Line 3). This is the 5th pipeline proposed and still nothing. I think they are starting to feel like the only way to ever build another pipeline is to get agressive and fight back I'm all for balance personally. No but they have a coast and sea ports... They could find other suppliers. It would just take several weeks for new orders to start coming in. If they can survive that long without cracking Alberta would be the looser cuz they'd loose any business with BC and BC would have their new supplier. Most of Alberta oil goes to US tho not BC so it may be worth the gamble The Federal Government is on Alberta's side vocally but Trudeau is not really doing anything other than words so far. He's too reluctant to risk political damage on his image so naturally he will avoid getting involved in controversial issues as much as possible He's actually so useless tbh. Ppl world wide love him cuz he's "attractive, forward thinking and liberal" but he only cares about image. He never gets anything done cuz he only menses words to be somewhere in between opposite sides to not piss off both sides of political spectrum but half the times u don't really know who's side he's on neither does he do much on behalf of one side or the other Pot legalization is the only controversial thing I ever saw him getting very involved in tbh.
