Green Detox 2,779 Posted April 10, 2018 Share Posted April 10, 2018 HE DENIED IT I swear to God I thought this had to be an April’s Fool Day joke (a late one) the second I read the headline of this email I received last night, which I then realized included a YouTube video link for me to watch. The email was headlined as: “Did Shawn Mendes and Charlie Puth like sexting each other”? I was like: “Whaaaat!?”. But I then realized it wasn’t a joke. Let me explain: Last week Shawn Mendes did an in-studio interview for some random radio show during his promotional rounds in support of “In My Blood” and “Lost In Japan”. During the conversation with the radio host, the subject of his friendship with Charlie Puth was brought to the table. The interviewer said that Charlie had been on the show some time ago and that he had mentioned in his interview that whilst touring together with Shawn Mendes in the past the two liked to share photos through the phone to compare their bodies (apparently they were both in the process of getting bigger). So that’s where the “sexting” claim was made. Evidently it was made a joke – or was it? – but from Shawn’s facial expressions, he definitely looked a bit upset. Shawn denied ever sending Charlie photos of his body but he did affirm Charlie sent him one of his. “This is NOT a thing. Charlie ONCE sent me a photo of HIM. I did not reply with a photo. I don't know why he's bragging about this, like this is a thing he should be telling people. He had no [photos] of me, because I didn't send any! I gotta text him. No more of that”, an upset Shawn stated. WATCH (go to the 7:50 minute mark) So Charlie Puth lied? I honestly wouldn’t care much if I was let known two heterosexual male friends texted each other body pics to compare how well their gym efforts are going, I would deem it part of a regular ‘bromance’. But apparently this idea doesn’t flow well in Shawn Mendes’ mind. Maybe that’s why he’s denying it? He's thinking "for gods sake, there are enough rumours as it is, and now my friend had to go and make it worse" Y'all need to leave him alone tbh. The LGBTQ community harassing someone who openly identifies as straight is just harmful to our reputation. He's an amazing ally, so lets not ruin his idea of our community with this constant harassment. Let him have limp wrists and a ripped body and a kind heart and still be straight.
