Million Reasons would've made a better lead single for Joanne

The song itself has the power to make people weep and cry like a baby, just like an Adele song, and it would be a surprise for people if Gaga released a ballad for the lead single.

Yea, I’ll agree.

To be fair, many things would have made better choices than Perfect Illusion.

IDK, I personally think it is not that sad. Melancholy, yes. But a song that straight up makes you bawl, not really.

Besides, making a mellow song as first single is always risky. Unless it is really really good. Not many people will enjoy that.

I think they chose perfect illusion cause people expected something upbeat from her? I know it's not like gaga to do the expected but after trying so hard to recover your image I guess it would almost be the better thing to do despite Million Reasons being a beautiful ballad... Bangers have a higher chance of making a big impact IMO unless the singer is already known for their ballads or new to the scene (neither of which really applies to gaga)

if we're talking about charts i don't think so, the only reason that Million Reasons went higher was because of the Super Bowl, i'm not saying Million Reasons is bad, but if the Super Bowl didn't give it that push, it would've stayed where it was.

If we're talking about the music, then maybe :oprah:

yeah definitely, the song saw huge potential but struggeled ww and on radio since PI damaged radios trust on her. Thank god superbowl made them wake up and it became a hit in the us atleast + several other countries but it could have done so much more as a lead.

Absolutely. PI was very misleading for me, to the point where i thought we were getting the original LG5. :wtfga:

Million Reasons on the other hand perfectly reflects the concept of the Era :trollga:

No. It should've been this way:

A-YO - Lead

Million Reasons - album release

John Wayne - Superbowl

DIC - Coachella

Oh well... :saladga:

i personally think, if MR was release as the lead single, the song would've reached top 10 on its own without the SuperBowl promo, and she can choose bangers like AYO, Diamond Heart, John Wayne or DIC as the 2nd single and then we'll have 2 hits

MR should have simultaneously been sent to Country radio with a remix featuring Sugarland.
