HeyItsKyKy 9
She wouldn't even be hypocritical if she went through with permanent surgery. Born This Way, for those that really paid attention, is not about literally being born this way. That's a terribly reductionist ( ) take on identity that doesn't take into account cultural context and socialization at all. But Gaga was much more nuanced than that--she explained the facial prosthetics and Genest's inclusion in the BTW video this way: she wasn't born with the prosthetics, and Genest wasn't born with the tatttoos, but for Gaga, they both could claim those things as a birthright because they were realizing a dormant potential always inside them--and this part is important--a potential that they wanted to realize. They were self-actualizing. Which is pretty much the highest state of existence one can reach, no? BTW's philosophy actually comes out very supportive of plastic surgery if it's something that you honestly think will make you happier/feel better about yourself. Plastic surgery is an epidemic because because we live in a culture that devalues people. But it's not a bad thing in and of itself, and it absolutely can help people become who they want to become. Bless this post. :worship:
Lyzz the Monster 0
Well, at least it's not permanent.
EastonEllis 1
That's a more insightful perspective. This is like BTW facial horns - new look for new era.. Exactly. I really think all these things mean something. She never says/does something out of the blue for nothing. Unless she's drunk :lolgaga:

Guest anki
Wait, I don't get it. How can it be temporary? Like some other hyaluronic acid dermal fillers including Captique and Restylane, Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus are made from bacteria. Because of that similarity, many patients find it difficult to choose between fillers. As long as the dermal filler works, few patients care about the details. Sadly this can be an expensive mistake. While the hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are made from bacteria, they are not all created equal. Juvederm Ultra and Juvederm Ultra Plus are made from a certain type of Strep bacteria similar to, but certainly not exactly like, the bug that causes Strep throat. We have advanced genetic engineering to such a degree that we can now change the genes in bacteria to do our bidding. They have created bacteria with just the right genes to pump out loads and loads of hyaluronic acid. What the makers of Juvederm have also managed to do is make that hyaluronic acid highly cross-linked. Why is cross linking of hyaluronic acid good? …Because the more cross-linked the hyaluronic acid, the longer it lasts in the skin. Consider that hyaluronic acid is a natural component of every person’s skin. That means that the human body has a way of producing hyaluronic acid and a way of breaking it down and clearing it from the body. This building up and breaking down is a theme throughout biology to keep tissues fresh and healthy. A simple hyaluronic acid molecule is easy for the body to break down. An enzyme snaps it in two or tags it for removal and away it goes. However, if that hyaluronic acid is attached to a number of other hyaluronic acid molecules, it cannot be broken down so easily. The result is a long lasting effect of the hyaluronic acid dermal filler in the skin. Every patient will break down hyaluronic acid at different rates. In other words, one person injected with a filler may get six months of cosmetic benefit while another patient may enjoy a full year. However the amount of cross linking of hyaluronic acid will increase any person’s duration of benefit from the treatment.

vinceBTW 0
Personally I think it just looks gross, it doesnt fit her at all and... eww its just terrible. I was thinking that the first time we saw a picture of her big lips but we were not sure if it was surgery. AND. Oh... Gaga... Its like the worst excuse EVER, people dont go inject product in their lips just because they are bored :toofloppy:
Deleted4234 388
I still think she's trolling. if she did get lip injections they didn't do much. they really don't look different to me. it just looks like she when over board with lip liner.
Xavier 0
Not the message of BTW, I understand that, but she always used to suggest she was against that sort of thing. It's not like shes drastically altering her physical appearance permanently. Getting lip plumpers is equivalent to getting a facial honestly, at least with her money. GHGUY 230
I'm just wondering why now? If she did not like her lips she could have had injections a long time ago. I dont want to sound like one of those fans who over a--lyze everything but maybe she is doing this a means of committing to her whole private in public/decay of the blonde icon theme she has been hinting at, but then again I'm sure she wanted them too I don't think she would commit like that for the sake of art. The only reason I bring this up is because I wonder why she chose now to do them when she had plenty of opportunities to do it in the past, especially before releasing BTW that way she could have avoided any possibility of public backlash for doing cosmetic work done after releasing an album called BTW
