Sure it wasnt bad but if everything had happened that she teased at some point it could have been a million times better and at the very least for us revolutionary

It was bad tho, especially after three very successful eras with lots of videos and promo. And also the failed concept of the album, the Volantis thing, the app, Troy Carter, working with rapists, etc. ARTPOP is still a very good album to me, would it be better if it had 11 songs instead of 15? Yes, but it's still great.

The concept wasn't failed. It was ambigous, hard to understand and general and this makes it for some people to seem ''failed".

It underperformed, yes, but it's not that bad. I don't think the GP even knows about the messy parts of it, not even the singles.

I think the reason they didn’t release any singles after G.U.Y anymore was because Interscope was afraid of another underperformance so they just went straight onto the Roseland Residency and the artRAVE tour.

The same thing happened to Heavy Metal Lover. Interscope thought that Marry the Night underperformed, thus making their be no 2012 Born this way singles.

but it was a bad era, for her

it was a very dark time in her life. she was doing a lot of drugs in 2012/13, then she broke her hip and was confused about this chronic pain she was developing and then everyone who she thought had her back, left her and she was brutally and constantly attacked by the media

yes we got fun music, fun fashion, fun videos etc, but behind the scenes it was very ugly and i'm just thankful tony bennett saved her

The album isn't one of my faves of hers tbh but the era was a great time for Little Monsters + the visuals, the fashion, the MV, the tour (that I didn't attend )... were stunning. I remember there was like a feeling of unity thanks to the Little Monsters app and all the leaks and rumours before the era started. Wouldn't mind going back in time to live again those special moments :giggle:

ARTPOP era hurts because I know she was hurting. But I do love the album and visuals and performances.

As far as commercial success, there was no way it was gonna be on par with her previous work. People love to forget this, but she started “underperforming” during  the front-loaded BTW era. And she was coming straight out of that for ARTPOP. It was doomed in that respect. People even tried to call Applause a flop when it first came out.

As far as “flop” eras though, it’s by no means as bad as some of the others mentioned.

Yeah, overall the visuals and the music topped all of her previous albums and the one that came after it, at least for me personally. Sure TF, TFM, Joanne and even BTW have some of her best songs, but as a whole I liked ARTPOP the most. For whatever reason.

ARTPOP has many things that have not given birth, but hopefully many more things will be leaked soon.

compared to her other eras the ARTPOP era was a total mess. the album itself is a little better than most give it credit for, but the era was a mess.
