kupo 201 Posted March 11, 2013 Share Posted March 11, 2013 The whole show is centered around Ru's career so it only makes sense that the winner is Ru-like. Raja isn't the same drag as Ru both are highly fashionable, stylish, and polished queens. Like Chad, like Bebe, and like Tyra (which pains me to say). Sharon obviously falls in there too but I think everyone's forgetting how TERRIBLE Sharons final runway was. No way she was going to win that night if it was up to Ru. Seriously. I honestly was expecting Ru to just say chad won even though Sharon had an overwhelming support. Can't forget this is a reality show and some choices are made by producers. Have you guys read anything Willam has said since the show?? I completely agree with you. Top four is without a doubt (in my mind) Alaska, Detox, Roxxy, and Jinkx. There's no way all of RoLaskTox making it into the top 3 thats fersure. Say it ain't so! I LUUUURRRVVVEEEE Sharon's final runway. Not her very best, but definitely one of (probably, for me, falling behind Elvis Sharon, Poodle Sharon, Zombie Sharon, and Plastic Surgery Sharon--perhaps my very favorite look ever on RPDR), but still in the top half of her looks, and that's saying something, because even though Sharon's runway isn't talked about like Manila's or Raja's, I think she actually has the strongest runway portfolio of anybody on the show. The dress itself was a bit underwhelming, but I liked the pairing with the leggings, and her hair and makeup were perrrrfect, and, of course, the tentacle fingers might be the greatest prop any queen has used. I definitely think it was heads and tails above Phi Phi's lame showgirl get up, and, while I liked Chad's Versace number and thought he looked pretty fierce, it didn't really pop. Reading episodes are my favorite, jesus I quote Juju's almost everyday. kupo 201 Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 (edited) Hell no to Jinkx and Alaska leaving. Jinkx and Alaska better make it to the finals. Alaska's super-sharp, and, while her style is getting predictable, I love it (her messy Winehouse beehives slay). I've a feeling she'll mix it up on the runway here soon, and if she does that, she should be golden. She still doesn't have a win, but she's been performing consistently strong throughout, and I think her wits can carry her through. Jinkx is probably the most well-rounded queen this year, and right now she statistically has the strongest performance. Like Alaska, she's whip-smart and hilarious, and she's got those theater skills to fall back on. Even her looks aren't as bad as they're being made out to be on the show. Or, I suppose I should clarify: they've been pretty bad (she's had a winner here or there, absolutely including last night's), but they've largely been bad because they're unpolished, not because they're flawed conceptually. What saves Jinkx is that she does have a clear aesthetic that is her own. To me, that sets her apart from someone like, say, Pandora. Pandora's looks weren't only busted (though she could probably paint a bit better than Jinkx), but she didn't seem to have a point of view at all in terms of style. Jinkx does, and that gives her a leg up. All she needs to do is brush it up a bit, and she should do just fine. Her edit is super strong right now, too, and I'd be shocked if she isn't one of the final three. She's top 4 fo' sho. My other pick for top three as it stands would actually be Alyssa, which I never thought I'd say at the start of this season. Alyssa's style of drag does nothing for me whatsoever. It feels *very* been-there-done-that, and doesn't distinguish itself from other pageant-y type queens that have come and gone. What sets Alyssa apart, though, is her clear drive and she's definitely talented on the stage. I want to see her in the finals, though, largely because she's just become such a winning personality on the show. Where Coco just seethes with anger and emanates bitterness, Alyssa laughs at herself and the situation and, well, pretty much everything. As driven and hungry for that title as she clearly is, she also doesn't take herself or the competition too seriously, and that's a huge plus for her, and makes her a refreshing foil to Coco. Speaking of which, Coco can exit stage left at any point now. She earned her win last night. She was smart. She knew she wouldn't be able to write the best jokes (and, indeed, Alaska, Jinkx, and Detox all outdid her there), but she adjusted her strategy accordingly and played broad and made it work. From her mannerisms, to her look, she SOLD it. That said, she still is just an unpleasant presence, and even with that win, still one of the overall lower performers. Couldn't have rolled my eyes any further back in my head than when she tried to tell Alyssa she shouldn't have made fun of the pageant controversy at a ROAST. Gurl, no. Alyssa's crack about you and Santino being runners-up was legitimately one of the best jokes of the night, and Alyssa bombed bad otherwise, choking that mic and getting feedback. Let her have her one moment. It was a great read. Coco's shown us what she can do at this point, and it amounts to a fierce lip sync. Not enough. Ivy...I don't even have anything to say about Ivy. Her time is up, too. She seems like such a nice person, and obviously is crafty and talented, but she can't even properly sell her garments on the runway. She's just not offering anything at this point that the other queens aren't offering ten-fold. Detox continues to coast, and it's as frustrating as ever. She's clearly funny and smart and quite talented, but every time we reach a moment where she really needs to assert those things, she doesn't really. She sort of does. She's sort of good here, and sort of good there, but not really good anywhere yet. Were Alaska and Jinkx not there edging her out in terms of humor, she might stand out a little more (this is probably the funniest batch of queens the show has ever had, with Alaska and Jinkx rivaling Juju and Pandora, except this season adds Detox on top of it), but as it is, she's yet to really make a mark. Roxxxy...I liked in the beginning. And part of me still does. When he's in a decent mood, he's funny and entertaining. But he's got some jealousy stuff he needs to work on. kupo 201 Posted March 12, 2013 Share Posted March 12, 2013 I'm sure there's lots of clever editing, and some purposeful prodding. But even on the show, it's clear they get along rather famously. They just have this one incident they both seemed to struggle with. I think that kind of things happen with friends a lot. You get into a big disagreement about something, but that doesn't erase all the stuff you've shared and what made you friends in the first place. It just so happens, where most people stop talking to that person in a situation like this, Alyssa and Coco were forced together. And that brought some tension, but also highlighted why they were such good friends to begin with. Even Alyssa admitted last night that they get along great.
