Inferno 2,880
15 minutes ago, Adampervez said: She stated (on instagram comments and stories) that the reason for the 'switch' is because at first she saw a lot of potential in Cardi, but then Cardi become a caricature of a stereotypical black woman even though shes not black, identifies as latina and still uses the n word. She also hates how Cardi is supported by black men because shes latina and light skin and is almost like a joke for white media. I cant even disagree with any of that, Cardi blatantly uses the n word when she shouldnt, her music has been ghost written, and the hip hop industry has a tendency to support light skin women over dark skin women. Granted azealia maybe couldve articulated her words better, but she made valid statements and i understand her frustration Cardi never changed. Cardi never "became" anything. She was who she was when Azealia supported her and shes the same today. So please explain to me why Azealia suddenly changing her tune when Cardi hit it big makes sense? If she supported how she was beforehand and wanted her to be successful, than what difference does that make afterwards? And Azealia is consistently exploiting latin culture while simultaneously putting down latino people. I find her incredibly ignorant and prejudice in that sense and hypocritical. Cardi is an afro-latina. But im not going to go into the specifics of all that because its an entirely different off topic discussion and quite honestly im not exactly a Cardi fanatic so im not about to make this post seem as though its all about defending her. At the end of the day Azealia is no one to talk in regards to lighter skin considering she went on how many rants about lightening her own skin? And promoting it? Who is she to condemn anyone on that matter? How can you understand that frustration then? And please explain in full why you're able to look past Azealias b/s to find the kernels of truth in what she says yet at times refuse to do that for anyone else? Why do you give Azealia consistent passes for her b/s? This is what is frustrating about Azealia supporters. I was one for a long time but it gets to a point where you shouldn't be so gullible and stupid. Like acknowledge the fact that shes insanely irrational and goes off purely based on personal bias and emotion rather than anything remotely valid like 90% of the time. Honestly its not personal and im not just trying to be a d*ck, but the moral arrogance of people that staunchly come to Azealias defense just really pisses me off and I actually find quite toxic and unprogressive. I feel like it needs to be killed with pesticide. Supporting her behavior and attitude is totally backwards and yet her supporters actually get off on that I think. You guys think you're apart of something that other people just dont understand and thats so incorrect.

I was one for a long time but it gets to a point where you shouldn't be so gullible and stupid. You clearly missed my previous point. Hip hop culture, and almost all cultures praise lighter skin and belittle those with darker skin. Azealia early in her career was constantly called racist and colourist slurs because of her dark skin - and during the height of her mental problems in 2016 she began to lighten her skin and attack others because of insecurities with her own skin tone. She finally acknowledged the damage it did to her skin and her mental health and has now returned to her darker, natural skin. This is what im tryna say, yall will hold on to one of her many **** ups, but not find out what happened later and how she worked past the problem. The reason why im able to look past azealias rants and find the truth and not for others is because unlike these other male rappers, she isnt a pedophile, she isnt a rapist, shes not an abuser, shes not a drug dealer, shes not a misogynist, shes not homophobic, the list goes on. Ultimately, most of her mistakes have been through words shes put out into the world, most of which she said at a time when her mental health was not at its best and that shes genuinely apologised for. I see an LGBT POC woman whos suffered a lot in her life and i empathise because i too am LGBT and a POC. I dont wanna go off topic but ill always support her because shes done things for the POC LGBT community that no other artist has or can do. Instwad of catering to just white gay men she went out of her way to bring light to issues faced by POC LGBT. Furthermore, the bridge shes tried to make by bringing LGBT culture to hip hop, being a proud bisexual from the BEGINNING of her career, and just being a proud black woman are nothing but inspiring to me and have helped me and countless others in accepting our POC identity as well as our LGBT identity as one. Actually she is a misogynist. She is an abuser. And she is homophobic. Among other things. Crawl out of her ass and open your eyes please. You jerk off to feeling like you're apart of something other people dont understand. Done here. This is too aggravating to me that people exist with your skewed point of view on her. Of course theres always that one gay that cant have a regular conversation with two opposing opinions without making a scene and storming off And someone from the LGBT community invalidating my experience as an LGBT POC? That angle doesn't apply right now. its really not a victim mentality, as a POC LGBT you should understand that every POC has a different experience, especially based on their own culture. Ive never played the victim card or used the 'victim angle' but if thats how you read it, thats your own problem. And Azealia never just storms off, sis bangs on and on and on about it until she has nothing left to say And i thought you said you were done? I LITERALLY SAID EVERY POC HAS THEIR OWN EXPERIENCE and not any one is the same. So the fact that I support her and you dont is fine, because we didnt have the same experience growing up and accepting our identities. If you have a problem with me supporting her and using her as a way to increase my strength as a proud POC LGBT, have a problem with the thousands of other POC LGBT who stan her and defend her because she and her work means so much to them too. Im not using any card, the fact that you even refer to it as a 'card' to be played shows how blind you are to so many issues and that youve given into the white constructed idea of a 'card' as a way to invalidate whatever we have lived through. You do use it as a card as made evident in the way in which you were trying to use your being a poc and her being a poc as a way of validating her and looking past her nonsense. And that has nothing to do with the white man or constructs. Its about surviving in the world that we live in. But go ahead and write me off as a white apologist or some sh*t to delude yourself into believing whatever you want about this b*tch. Im officially done. You just get something other people dont! She apologized to most people she had a beef with from Iggy to zayn and since then she steered off of controversies for the most part. Im not saying you should forgive her (as if she needs your forgiveness) but what I'm saying is: her mental illness and the colorism/racism she suffered and still suffers played a HUGE part on her meltdowns and how media/stans perceived them, instead of trying to understand why she was behaving so erratically ppl preferred to feed her anger and make headlines out of it. in short: azealia moved on, most people she had a beef w/ moved on, if all the parties involved are at peace why do you care lmao
