but so far what I've seen from the book is stuff I could have got if I had a camera and 100% access to Gaga for 10 months.

That isn't what (successful) photography is about though. Yes, anybody CAN point and shoot, but it's how you as the photographer make the subject feel. No, the majority of us wouldn't get the photos Terry got in this book, because she trusts him 100% and is close friends with him.

And also in general, if people are thinking that his candid style is "lazy" and that anyone could do it, look into Andy Warhol and his film and photography work. Simple shots, simple films - but he created superstars.

You're right- we wouldn't get the photos Terry got in this book. But I do think we still could have gotten good photos. I'm not trying to diss on his work- you'll see somewhere else in this thread I actually praised his style. I'm just saying that [almost] anyone could get a lot of good pictures of someone if they had full access to them 24/7 for ten months.

But obviously she wouldn't let almost anyone have full access to her unless that person already had a good photography portfolio built up. So I guess my point is that anyone can eventually get great photos with all that access, but not anyone can get access in the first place.
