First was doo wop, second was 2000s pop, now is electro pop. So... No.mp3

Then why do they essentially all sound the same and all the videos look the same?! If you have me a list of her vids to match up with song titles I couldn't cause they're all the same.

God, she just keeps getting worse and worse. I actually had high hopes that this song would be good, I don't know why. Maybe the little lyric snippet she provided gave me hope, but no. This is bad in a generic, mediocre way. Not as overtly bad like Me Too but bad as in lazy, rushed, repetitive. Not lead single material at all. There's barely any lyrics in it! 2:35 is just offensively short and makes it utterly pointless if it barely has any meat on it. Sounds like a demo and the video is totally boring and looks like it had a budget of $30. All of which was spent on clothes.

Let's look at the stats. She has 8.8 million subscribers and this is her comeback lead single after taking a break out the limelight for over a year. Its been up for 8 hours, only has 58k likes, isn't trending and it's only #54 on US itunes. This is it. She's over. Confirmed. After the failure of her second album, Thank You, she needed to come back with a bang if she wanted to be seen as any more than a one hit wonder. But this is it for her now. Thank You was the beginning of the end. This is the end end.

Not all singles are front loaded. She has lots of promo lined up.

We've seen heavily promoted singles not make a dent in the past. She promoted Me Too and it got used in media and that wasn't enough to make it a hit. The song is way too short and repetitive to have any sort of appeal. Her video views are huge despite her not being massive hitmaker, so it proves that she at least has a loyal online fanbase. But if even they aren't powering up this video, I don't know who else it's going to appeal to.

I'm not bitter. I'm just being an honest critic. Just because I don't delude myself doesn't mean my views are out of line. Yeah, Thank You's platinum because that's its sales with streaming combined. If it sold 1 million pure sales, it would be a different story. It only had 84k pure sales in its debut week. She only sold 34k in the 4th week despite it being discounted to $6.99. Her label totally gave up after 3 singles and Better didn't even chart and its music video has only 17 million views over 1.5 years (perhaps that's why this video's so short, they know that even her own fans aren't here for a 6 minute video). According to Wikipedia, its actual US sales were only 282k as of December 2016...and the album came out in May 2016.  So, yeah, research what platinum certifications mean these days before making sassy clapbacks.

All her past 7 multiplatinum singles performed the same way on their first day, so

She released the singles from her follow-up album a year after her debut. She was striking while the iron was hot. That makes all the difference. But its approaching 2 years since her second album was released. The third album is the ultimate test for a new act, especially nowadays. The final single, Better, flopped into oblivion and I'm A Lady flopped even harder and didn't even pull her fans in (and this was despite the song being from a movie that made just under $200 million and Meghan voicing one of the characters). Both videos flopped terribly too. So, the first day's performance is a whole different ball game now. But I still don't think they did this badly. I distinctly remember NO doing better than this.

I stand here waiting for you to bang the gong. To crash the critic saying: "Is it right or is it wrong?" :ladyhaha:

You'd better chill. All you do on this site is criticize the vast majority of musicians and judging from your comments, you must be a negative person. It's just a pure pop song you can dance and sing along to. There's no depth to it and why should it be? At least she is not pretentious and doesn't attempt to put some irrational meaning behind it like all the Instagram filters are just a perfect illusion. She has had quite a few pretty successful singles and she will do just fine. You don't need to worry about her ;)
