Just because I don't delude myself doesn't mean my views are out of line. Yeah, Thank You's platinum because that's its sales with streaming combined. If it sold 1 million pure sales, it would be a different story. It only had 84k pure sales in its debut week. She only sold 34k in the 4th week despite it being discounted to $6.99. Her label totally gave up after 3 singles and Better didn't even chart and its music video has only 17 million views over 1.5 years (perhaps that's why this video's so short, they know that even her own fans aren't here for a 6 minute video). According to Wikipedia, its actual US sales were only 282k as of December 2016...and the album came out in May 2016. So, yeah, research what platinum certifications mean these days before making sassy clapbacks. So are tons of albums nowadays! And Better did bad but NO and Me Too both sold 1m copies pure sales , queen did THAT

Queen Gloria 3,464
I like her brand of idgaf sass but for some reason I just don't like her? Something about her is off-putting to me, I think she's just too basic. If someone like Gaga or Janelle Monae put a song out like this I'd be into it, but she looks like she could be taking my order at Starbucks. That's what it is, she's too family friendly for my tastes.

Her album sales show that she's definitely a singles artist, which isn't as impressive. The US, UK and Australia are the only territories where her debut album sold 100k or more. Considering all her singles from Title went multi-platinum, she should have sold more than just scraping 1 million copies there. She hasn't even got the demand for an arena tour yet. Music is terrible right now, why should I lower my standards just to be nice? I'm actually a very nice person in general, it's just that I'm so passionate about music that I really take nothing but the best and artists are paid a crazy amount of money, so they'd better deliver quality. It's not a song I can dance and sing along to. It's not enjoyable enough for that. And who says pop music can't be deep? This is why the genre gets a bad rep because its fans expect too little. If we want to make it better, we need to start upping our standards. And you can make a song with meaning without being pretentious. We'll see in the coming days and weeks. There's a lot of 'I' in your post solely because music is subjective. It's not really fair to say the song isn't the best or worthy when to some it definitely is. You're always welcome to respectfully disagree but let's be real, music doesn't need to be a great masterpiece full of artistic integrity, it just needs to be enjoyed which it clearly is. We dont need to raise our standards. As Gaga fans they are already too high. We expect every artist to carry the same ethic as Gaga when in fact some just want to make you smile with easy listening and there's nothing lesser about that Maybe diversify your music listening and you'll find tons of pop with the requirements you're looking for The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

I'm not asking for a masterpiece of artistic integrity either, just something with a bit more lyrics than this rushed effort and says something a bit more interesting. Even by Meghan's standards, this song is extremely short and barely passes the acceptable amount of time for a song to be considered a song. There's only one verse which she changes slightly the second time she sings it and the rest of it is pure repetition of the very short chorus. That is not what I find enjoyable. I don't mind an artist who just wants to have fun with their music but "being fun" isn't the same as "being artistically lacking." My favourite fun songs from Meghan are Dear Future Husband, Bang Dem Sticks, Walkashame, Credit and Watch Me Do. Being fun while saying something interesting, having a good beat and having more than a few lyrics. I know she can do better than this, which is why this song makes me so disappointed because she's squandering her potential. I do have diversified listening. I'm an amateur music critic. I listen to music from all genres and artists, even the ones I don't like because you can find hidden gems. But I have to say, music is in the pits right now and has been for a few years. Pop just isn't what it used to be. I just can't deal with a scene that's bigging up the mediocre Dua Lipa as the saviour of pop music. Have people's ears changed? Because mine sure haven't. 32 minutes ago, OBEY said: How so? Songs sell 70k a week nowadays. It is impressive. Yeah, 70k a week, over many months. Meghan's burned out quickly. Selling 1 million copies of a song is nothing special by US standards, it's just the benchmark for a song to be called a hit now, no more or less. You also have to remember that Meghan's international presence was never that huge and went down majorly after her debut, so the fact she only truly sells in America isn't impressive to me. If she wants a long career, she's going to have to get her international presence up because No Excuses is absent in nearly all the world's major music markets right now. In most of Europe, she burnt out completely after Lips Are Movin. Look up her chart positions of all her songs and albums on Wikipedia to see it.
