If she genuinely believes Joanne was on the same level of success as past eras, and wants to rule the world again, then the girl needs a new team But if she’s happy being that pop star who was big a few years ago, and sells her new albums based on that past success, while taking things a bit slower now, then she should keep those that she already has. Regardless, those that want Troy back are deluded. He was great at getting her from nothing to international fame, but was far less talented at sustaining that success. He should never have forced things such as FAME, the ARTPOP App, countless gimicks etc. He’s the reason she was considered an attention *****. I think they had planed PI to smash on radio and streaming since it was a brand new gaga single and while it was doing good on radio gaga could finish the album and promote it later along with the album. They had prob thought the song was going to last the rest of 2016 without any major promo the first month, but we all know the song barely lasted a week so with the poor response they just focused on the album and ignored the song. Why did they allow themselves to go through a whole era without pushing the singles on streaming platforms? good question, they did push PI the first week or two but since it was showing such poorly response it got removed from the biggest playlists etc. Understandable but i never got why MR never got pushed on any major playlist at all, it was doing really great on spotify in italy, the only place where it got any playlist promo. Even after the superbowl it didn't get into any major playlists in the US or WW playlist. and it ended up being one of her biggest spotify hits (soon 200M streams and about to pass bad romance, poker face and the cure), so it def had big potential on streaming if they had pushed it on more playlists. They did push the cure on spotify and it did ok but in that case, the song wasn't promoted in any other way but streaming and abit of radio, it lacked any promo from gaga and never had a music video so eh. Hopefully her next lead will be as promoted on spotify as the cure and have as many great promo spots for live peformances as MR. I think he supported her in the best way possible. In my opinion, the problem is Interscope: the label is leading to promote other artists. Here in Italy, Gaga is not played so much by radios, maybe 2 or 3, just because labels don't promote artists the way they must. Gaga must create her own label and promote herself with the music that she wants, not like Interscope did with some songs (Scheiße, Venus..) If she wants to push boundaries again she needs fresh people or at least a new creative director who would refine her ideas. What I notice with Gaga’s outputs probably since ARTPOP is that they have good ideas, but the executions are rather unpolished, not sleek and sometimes cheesy. That includes her choregraphy. Liftings and those hand movements aren’t the tea. She needs someone who will challenge her idea or at least bring something new to the table.
