I’m missing something for sure, right? I mean, just because this guy chooses to make hipstery music and therefore not as mainstream, popular, or acknowledged... I don’t know. Those are very very few and far between, but also its important to remember many black legends exist like those exceptional ones you listed, because almost all new music in American history ws created and developed by african americans and then adopted by white artists for white consumerism. Ex. Jazz, blues, gospel music, rock and roll, hip hop etc. were all born from black american society and have only fractions of those same artists that are recgonized. its a very very recent concept to even have multiple people of color winning grammies in one night. I mean if you look at it from a different point of view, he got a Grammy this year, Gaga and Pink didn't and they were hyped more because they are already established artists, he is considerably a new act and hasn't proved longevity yet. That shade was totally uncalled for. Gaga has never even mentioned his name. Just because he won an Emmy and Grammy this year (also that Grammy went to him just because he won that Emmy and is popular now, if it was up to me the Grammy would have gone to someone else).
