I don’t buy it. TEOG was a hit and the other singles didn’t fare as well because she was so overexposed. What really killed her momentum was Applause going head to head with Roar and failing to top it. Then ARTPOP was far too different and loud for the go to really enjoy. Then she also had her team falling apart, and then she went on to tell the public that part which made it seem like she was washed out. Now she’s slowly climbing back up but I think she needs to kick it into high gear a little because the gp is already starting to dislike her little by little.

I don't care if the general public like it. Gaga is a gamechanger and I'm proud of her for challenging societies views.

Alejandro video was the first strike.

Judas shouldnt have been a single in the US. It did well in EU and JP though.

Honestly, as divisive as BTW an era it was, it still gave her some pretty decent hits like BTW, TEOG and Y&I, which are all recognized as great songs by the public. The lead had some issues with the controversy, but it still was #1 for 5 weeks and sold a TON.

Gaga was sooo strong, none of her contemporaries could even dare to release an album like that and still make it out alive.

ARTPOP was a mess in itself, it wasnt going to make it unless she had redone it.

Starting to dislike her? More like starting to forget her. The number of times I heard people say "Oh yeah, what happened to her" when they announced she was doing the Super Bowl was just ... :awkney:

Even after the SB, I can see that she's lost a lot of her relevance with the GP. If she wants to regain it, she needs to come through with a popular hit off of LG6 or else it's just going to be another album that stans buy. :neyde:

In Europe is even worse, people here havn't heared of her since Applause and all my friends at school think Alejandro is the last song she released before disappearing........

And I mean, releasing a jazz and a country albums, closing the european dates of Joanne WT(offcourse not her fault) and releasing only 2 singles from her last commercial album(ARTPOP) didn't help her relevance, like at all, she is on a constant decline ever since BTW(single). :toofunny:

Agreed.  And releasing it around EASTER was the biggest mistake. :nails: #TeamMarryTheNight2ndSingle

In Europe it really is much worse. I've had very similar experiences...when people just think she disappeared and hasn't done music since BTW. :toofunny:  The Vegas residency won't help her much on this side of the Atlantic as well. Let's hope she shifts this trend and manages to become a global act again.

Okay, true. I dislike the term downfall, though. She isn't Gwen Stefani or anything.

But yeah, Judas was easily her first misstep. She thought she could get away with anything and nope! TEOG was a major success, but that video was another misstep. You and I became a hit in the US because her performances and video saved her ass. MTN was obviously on shaky ground. It just couldn't break through.

Flash forward to 2013. Katy is coming off of the literal peak of her career and a string of TOP THREE HITS. Radio and iTunes devour "Roar" while both are hesitant with "Applause" after the series of missteps we discussed. The unfavorable comparisons fed bad press which fed bad sales, etc. It doesn't help that she was dealing with literal hell behind the scenes (including losing those she had trusted and dealing with depression).

It often goes unnoticed, but we owe C2C a big thanks. We may not bop to it, but SHE does, and it gave her the strength to keep making music. I firmly believe we wouldn't have seen Super Bowl Gaga if she hadn't done C2C, which was healing for her soul.

Sidenote: Judas as a concept isn't bad...as the video shows. I think it's biggest sin (pun intended) is that it follows the structure of Bad Romance mixed with Poker Face. An artist of her caliber can't do that. She has to always push forward with her ideas.
