lego 44,165
Luke 2:21-39 New King James Version (NKJV) Circumcision of Jesus 21 And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child,[a] His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. This is interesting; if Paul didn’t abolish almost everything from Old Testament, most Christians today would still follow this tradition and majority wouldn’t be against it or call it barbaric. It would be so ingrained in their culture, even if they would be later atheists, because it’s part of them. Just something to think about. I am actually devastated by many of the comments here, idk why but it actually saddens me to read these comments. As a Jew I take pride (this sounds so silly) on my circumcised penis, and I really do and I wouldn't want it any other way. It's part of my identity. Comparing this to female mutilation is such a barbarity and an incredibly superficial and sensationalized connection. To me this was part of my education and formation while growing up. Parents just have certain decisions, we can't change the way they raise kids (unless it's abusive, etc). We are, for better or for worse, the product of our parent's genes and how they (or whoever had the parental figure) moulded us. Idk, it all very much feels like a violation on religious freedom, and I do believe many people here will support this law in sight of their views of Islam and the state of Israel. if you read that huge comment by the user Fable (full of receipts) on page 10, it should be clear as day that banning it is the better option instead of keeping it for religious freedom you can still be proud of your circumcision and you should feel lucky you don't feel it has affected you, but it's doing a lot of damage and i don't mean just removing a few extra nerve endings https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ

You don’t care if the baby wants to be born or not, if the adult wants to terminate the pregnancy at any stage, not wanting kid with Down syndrome, for example. That means removing tiny human being from the womb piece by piece. But you care about piece of skin if baby can’t consent. You have to remember how many millions of people have been practicing this, for centuries, and they don’t think it’s mutilation, besides religious reasons they also believe in health benefits, so you can’t ban it. It’s impossible. With one country’s ban you are putting these kids at more risk, because it will be done in unsafe conditions. This has nothing to do with drugs or guns. It has to do with human body and surgeries and risks. And abortion is pretty damn valid comparison and it also shows hypocrisy. Millions of Muslims and Jews belong in Europe, they’re Europeans just as anyone else and they’ve been doing this for centuries. Just because Christian part of Europe never did it, it doesn’t mean it’s barbaric, there’s just no understanding for different cultures and traditions and there’s this pushing of their own, what is normal to them, it has to be normal to everyone else. What bit of cutting a part of a child’s penis off and putting them in extreme pain in the name of tradition / religion isn’t barbaric though? I’m all for embracing other cultures but putting a newborn child through that isn’t necessary. Let an adult decide to have it done if they wish, don’t force your beliefs on a child... especially beliefs that will result in excruciating pain for days

European Christians are NOT more civilized than Europeans of other religions, only because they’re uncut. Besides being tradition, same people believe in health benefits which outweigh the risks. __ Resent research into male infant circumcision, published in the World Journal of Clinical Pediatrics, has found the benefits outweigh the associated risks by 200 to one. Wide-ranging evidence from surveys, physiological measurements, and the anatomical location of penile sensory receptors responsible for sexual sensation strongly and consistently suggested that MC has no detrimental effect on sexual function, sensitivity or pleasure. United States studies showed that early infant MC is cost saving. The evidence supporting early infant MC has further strengthened since the positive AAP and CDC reviews. Our systematic review of the current scientific evidence finds the protection afforded by early infant male circumcision against infections and other adverse medical conditions exceed risks by 200 to 1 and that over their lifetime over 1 in 2 uncircumcised males will suffer an adverse medical condition caused by their foreskin. Neonatal circumcision is “safer, and heals more rapidly than circumcision performed on older boys, adolescent males and men, and is less expensive,” according to the CDC’s draft recommendations. Additionally, circumcision performed after a male becomes sexually active may result in “missed opportunities” to protect him from STIs and HIV. Complications, which occur in less than 0.5 percent of infants, include bleeding and inflammation of the penis or the need for corrective procedures, and severe complications are rare. The risk of complications is greater (though still considered low) in circumcisions performed on males over the age of one, making circumcision in infancy the ideal time to take advantage of the health benefits. The guidelines do not outright call for circumcision of all male newborns, since that is a personal decision that may involve religious or cultural preferences, Dr. Jonathan Mermin, director of the CDC's National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD and TB Prevention, told the Associated Press. But "the scientific evidence is clear that the benefits outweigh the risks," Mermin said. https://www.webmd.com/parenting/baby/news/20141202/cdc-endorses-circumcision-for-health-reasons FreePalestine
bionic 50,111
I understand that people are kind of brainwashed into seeing it as right in some countries, but I can't get over the thought of routine, non-medically necessary, male genital mutilation
