As long as health reasons are concerned, it's been proven that circumcision has a lot of pros when it comes to overall hygiene and and incidence of STDs and other diseases.

Just because you want your foreskin back for some reason, that doesn't change the fact that circumcision is really helpful and should be considered as a way to treat and cure phimosis and other health problems. Creams and stuff won't help you in the long run.

And please do not act like a doctor if you aren't one and do not act entitled just because you went through this surgery as a baby. If you don't really know what is it like to have or not have a foreskin, stop being judgemental.

However, if you're willing to do it for aesthetic or religious reasons, I don't really blame you. Honestly I don't care. Just keep in mind that you only have one penis (hopefully) so be careful...

If by "health reasons" you mean stuff that can be prevented by WASHING it, it's completely unnecessary. If circumcision is used to treat things like phimosis (or living somewhere where STIs are so rampant it's VERY necessary) that's all it should be for. Parents wanting to change someone's body because of their beliefs or because of aesthetics (which is weird people would want to change a baby's body to look "better") shouldn't be above the child's rights

He was able to keep some of the foreskin, so it's almost like they took 75% off so he could properly clean under it and stop any discomfort. That being said, his penis doesn't look entirely appealing with a partial circumcision. Visually I say keep it or remove it. But, this choice at the end of the day shouldn't be an aesthetic one.

Of course I was talking about serious issues. It's still a surgery, it should not be taken lightly...

Totally not equivalent I agree, thanks for pointing it out. I mean FGM, in certain forms, can lead to fatal bleeding, chronic pain and a whole list of serious health complications. It's a far more complicated and dangerous procedure that can lead to far more common, serious and long lasting complications. When a clitoridectomy is performed, the equivalent for men would be having the entire head of their penis removed.

I think the constant comparison between the two is unhelpful for the side against infant/child circumcision because most people, I think, realise there is a world of difference between the two.

That's not me defending early circumcision, which I think is ethically problematic and shouldn't be practiced, it's just that treating the two as the same diminishes the trauma of FGM that is undoubtedly far more pronounced and severe.

I think no one except some politician said that. But the argument that because A does more harm than B, doesn't mean that B is not harmful.

Oh yeah absolutely. Just that I've seen the comparison made in several places though and like @Fable said, it weakens the argument against infant male circumcisions. Also if people aren't familiar with what female circumcision involves, they might think it's no worse than male ones.

Yeah, I was just pointing that out cause I have seen people using that argument to proof that male circumsition in general is okay
