Amazon has narrowed down the list of Cities they are considering for their second headquarters.

 

19 out of 20 are US cities leaving only 1 Foreign city (Toronto) in the running

Boston.

New York City.

Newark, N.J.

Chicago.

Washington D.C.

Raleigh, N.C.

Northern Va. 

Atlanta.

Miami.

Columbus, Ohio.

Los Angeles.

Dallas.

Austin, Texas.

Philadelphia.

Denver.

Nashville.

I mean if it were up to me I'd choose the cities with the best traffic and weather  Or at least that are not too large. Columbus, Raleigh, and Nashville. Maybe Denver.

They need them to be large tho

 

Tens of thousands of employees they will need so they need a large pool of qualified people

 

In fact one of their requirements is that the city has to have at least 1 million people or close to it

Much of their customer service is work from home jobs here in the US. It’s $10 per hour which isn’t the best but they do let you work up to 60 hours a week if you so desire.

No I didn't. But then again that's pretty typical of a large business to do

 

But it's how they compete. Long term job creation in those low paid lands results in competition for labor and eventually wages start rising

 

Look at China for example... Their middle class is growing fast now. They never would of developed if companies didn't go there for their "cheap labor"

Yeah. I've been into economics for about 12 years now. But I never took secondary education for it tho cuz in my area trades (which I also like) are among the easiest jobs to get

I’ve heard rumors that they’re choosing Austin because of the Super Bowl commercial they aired. It would make slotbof sense.
