It's an improvement, but it really bothers me that they're trying to switch to this twenty one pilots kind of style when they used to be the champions of vapid self indulgent electronic garbage. It feels so disingenuous :selena:
Anyway, crappy song as usual.

Oh, I'm just visiting-

I am split.
I don't know but I miss their "Don't Let Me Down" tunes while I kind of try to enjoy this song.
It's not bad, I really like it, but it's different. Is it a bad thing? No, but I am used to them being ... idk, "more" than that?

I feel like this is their MJ/TS era in terms of their legacy and music videos (You know, Taylor is the new MJ). And I can see the KP Bon Appétit references too.

Legends in the making? :oprah:

I think SO.

Hmm, Sick Boy wasn't just a one off? They really are continuing with this political theme throughout their work? I have to say, I'm impressed that they're this dedicated. I thought they'd totally make one song that was different to prove that they're more than generic producers who just entered this game to get girls throwing themselves at them (their confession in Billboard) but would then totally follow it up with another generic "bop" if it flopped. But no. They really are pushing this new direction and want to say something more meaningful. Curious. I preferred Sick Boy more and the beat of this new one is awful but I appreciate the theme and some of the lyrics. The video is really out there for them. Don't think it will go down well. I doubt they were inspired by Katy, however, it's just your standard shock video.

It's going to be really interesting to see where this takes them. Their new work just isn't danceable or catchy and the lyrics aren't fun. This is hardly what their fans want, so why have they done it? Are they trying to cash in on the new "downbeat pop" trend or is this genuinely what they want to do? Whatever, I'm going to have popcorn to watch how it all pans out. Lord knows GGD will slam them if this new direction fails.
